This would probably be good, just incase of walkers.
I've almost finished watching BB5 and there was no reason to put Becki in, the series was fine with no newcomers at all.
+ When theres less people you get to know them better.

12 is a good number with new people coming in after about 4 weeks.

12 to start and no more than 15 over all
the fact they had over 20 in BB10 was ridiculous.

Yes but we also have a very small list of good housemates compared to the fails overall. Thus an invalid argument.

Probably the same reason why Sam Pepper was only a newcomer, they'd get evicted too soon otherwise.
Oh and 16 is fine with me. The more the merrier. :)

Its not invalid, its a massive point that 80% of the newcomers are fails which is why I don't want any this series.

I'd say 13 with 3 newcomers. [/trying to emulate bb6]

12, only newcomers to replace walkers, just like BB3.
Although I don't mind random new people in later weeks, as long as they're actually interesting and have some kind of twist at first.

I think Bea would have been in a decent position in Lisa/Kris' gang if she was in the initial line-up. Pepper would have definitely been doomed if he'd come in at the start (and probably thought of as just being an annoying attention-seeker)

I said 18+ because I genuinely believe BB can still be good with a big group. 14 or 16 originals means there's less chance of too many newbies coming in and even then just a couple at a later date shouldn't hurt. My only problem with recent series having more HMs is that you barely get to know some of them but that could change if there was a decent twist at the end of the first week and not have the first eviction til the second week.
And yeah BB8 had 23 HMs and Thaila/'Pauline' as a guest. BB8 was a failure though because it started with the all-female launch so you just knew there'd be more HMs thrown in to make up the boys numbers and then when there became too many boys BB threw in yet more girls! All in all it had only 11 HMs on launch and a whopping 12 newbies. Too many newbs
Glenn.

Was it BB7 or BB8 that had 20+?

BB7 onwards have all had 20+
BB7 - 22 (14 originals, 8 newbies)
BB8 - 23 (11 originals, 12 newbies)
BB9 - 21 (16 originals, 5 newbies)
BB10 - 22 (16 originals, 6 newbies)
BB11 - 21 (14 originals, 7 newbies)

14 to start with. And if someone leaves then replace them with another HM.
Glenn.
27-06-2011, 06:23 PM
I think more than 14 is a joke.
It should just be 14 then if anyone walks then they should be replaced, like the first few years.
Maybe add one newbie halfway through.

16. I love it on launch when the house if crowded and the're all getting to know eachother.
And I sort of like new housemates half way through but ONLY if it's done as a massive twist in some way.

I think on the Wednesday/Thursday on launch night about 12/14 housemates should go in.
Then on the Friday there are 10 potential housemates but the public vote for 2/3/4 of them to go in!

Yes, I agree, also I hope this is something they tighten up on too, that when a housemate says they want to leave, we don't have the saga like with JJames last year when he was always persuaded to stay after numerous (false)requests to leave.
By all means the housemates can say they wish to leave but then be given only to the next day to decide,if they come back saying the want to go then out the door they go,no messing about with games trying to get extra air time on the programming.

12/13 would be a better choice, with no first week eviction. You actually get to know the housemates before voting off the wrong one.

I hate when they do stuff like that, always fails & we would just pick the most boring ones anyway.

12 because the amount of editting down 24 hours with higher than 14 will most likely mean some of the housemates are completely forgotten about in the Highlights show. :)

I've never liked the idea of voting who you want to go in the house. They could turn out different, and you can't really judge properly.

I'd really love for a mid series twist that when the cliques have formed in the house put them all up for eviction and have half of them replaced. It'd really divide the house and feel like they are intruded on. :p

Never have more than a double eviction :bored:
Voting to evict is bad enough, as mainly the entertaining Housemates go, usually Double evictions guarantee someone entertaining leaves, but triple evictions and more is an awful Idea, as it just gets rid of interesting characters.
(As much as i hated Corin & Sam, they were entertaining :bored: and the haters of John James would say the same, (rather than the likes of Andrew, JJ, Steve & Mario )

Then they'd have to keeping putting new HM's in, it'd turn into a BB8 style mess.
All we need is a small group of 12 -14 who we can't get to know better. I think the reason BB5 was so successful is because it was just a small group of strong characters, there was no need for BB to start putting newbies in every week to liven things up, didn't need it.

I like the sound of a mid-series slaughter of housemates, maybe a triple?
'The Teams' Week
After the eviction when 12 HMs remain, HMs nominate 2 HMs to become Team Captains.
They select 1-by-1 alternatively, their team of 5, with 1 chosen to become a Substitute. The other 3 are Players. The 2 HMs not chosen to be on a team become Fans, and are automatically safe this week.
This is done live.
Then over Saturday Morning - Tuesday Afternoon, Team Captain and their 3 Players take part in a series of tasks (Substitute can be used twice) which give them scores. Live on Tuesday Night, The Worst Player overall is announce, and the Team Captain of them must decide to evict The Worst Player, or substitute them, in which the Substitute is evicted instead.
After the eviction, live task - the substitutes also become players on their team and the losing team are all up for eviction. The winning Team Captain is immune next week as a reward.
Friday night - highest % HM is evicted. The Fans then must evict a further HM from the losing team.

Yeah, I wanted 13 Housemates and ONLY 2 New housemates that go in at the same time, after like 3 weeks. They should also be sectioned for the 3 weeks so they have limited infomation on whos the favourite to win etc. If not, as it was only 3 weeks things can change. I'm not a fan of new housemates, and i am fed up of there being like 5+ every year.
