No joke. The most unbelievably painful thing I have had for a very long time and I would not wish this on my worst enemy - and that is no lie.

Been at work and at one point, tears running down face due to the pain - was given uber strong painkillers but couldn't take them at work as they put you on another planet almost (well, no concentration, no driving etc).

Not long home, fired tramadol down neck and counting down till they kick in.

For those who want to stick the boot in: feel free to laugh and mock me for the pain I am truly racked with. :bawling:

Any sympathy votes: welcome here too.

what's the point in posting a poll, it just looks like your dying for an argument with people who vote for the second option

Sense of humour applies - I should have perhaps made that clear in my opening post....!!!

More a light hearted bit of humour: A place to laugh at my suffering.... ie; get it while the going good - that type of thing.

Far too bliddy sore to bother 'arguing'.....!!:bawling:

Feels like my ribs are edged with sharded glass and my right lung is trying to squeeze through the spaces..... I really never appreciated how painful it could be. 'Till now.

It's not the best, that's for sure!

Unlucky Pyramid, its not stress related is it?

Cross my heart... I took it in good humour Jordan, it wasn't me. On the wee cat's life. :( .... it was meant for light hearted ''get me now coz I'm poorly''.... kinda 'sick' humour (in every sense of the word!)

I haven't .... might dedicate some of the weekend to it.... been upto eyeballs with work - even when I've been on here in the evenings, I've been jumping back and forth betwen tibbs and ppt / xl / doc etc.

Can safely say that Tramadol is not all it's cracked up to be.

Folks out there... one piece of advice to you all. If you smoke .... for gawds sake: GIVE IT UP. I have no doubt that me smoking hasn't exactly helped this: and I swear..... I would never wish this on anyone.

If you're thinking of smoking / just started - I'm serious. Ditch the bloody things.

Much easier said than done - my own bloody fault - knew I had chest inf but too 'busy' to go to doc earlier. Hell mend me.

Everone was telling me about Tramadol, 'dont take it at work, you cant drive, you'll be out of your face'. What a load of bull..... it's taken the very slight edge off pain... but no way is it strong. (And I'm not exactly built like a heifer either). Useless it is.

Thanks Nate, me too.

Strange how we all react so very differntly to the same medications - but that's pretty low that the hospital gave you something that they shouldn't have, not good at all.

Hey Mid I thought Tramdol was muscle relaxant. I also think an anti inflammtory is better. I have had pain with the illness I have, nurofen is good also sometimes you may need to take water tablets to disperse the build up of ****e. Also have you had steroids they open the air ways so you can breathe, I suppose you know all this just trying to help.

As per email sent: got Prednislone, Tramadol, Montelukast, Amoxicillan and for good measure Tiotripium inhaler. No half measures here... good doctor made sure she gave me enough. it's a flipping exercise in itself working out what time I to take what tablets next. :(

Im not too sure. All I know is they are the only painkillers that have ever worked for me. Codeine make not the slightest bit of difference...they gave me them for migraines and they are meant to be good :/

So I now need to find some way of asking my doc what they are, without telling him I was taking someone elses perscription...he goes down my neck for taking stuff he hasnt perscribed for me

See.. codeine works wonders on the pain front for me: but problem is: I vomit them up about 40 mins after taking them and come out in a rash - so whilst it would sort out my pain: if I had to vomit, I honsetly think the pain would totally overwhelm me, seriously.

Brufen, when it first came out, was a large perfectly round bright pink pill. You can now get it in caplet form (ie; like a pink Hedex shape). They are very strong. You could say to the doc that you were at a friends house and that was the only pain killers she had, and you found it to be effective ...and you were wondering if he could prescribe?

I honestly couldnt believe how effective it was. IIRC the person who gave me them had been perscribed them for kidney stones, so I should have guessed they would work well really

Playing on tibbs tonight has actually helped take my mind off it a wee bit and I'm managing to sit in a very bizarre but 'reasonably' comfy positon (sort of like a right handed type of Hunchback of Notre Dame). (with the same grimace on my face though).

Hang me. I've been on the forum about 8 months and this is probably the first thread of any such nature. When I begin to do it every other week -then feel free to complain till your heart is content.

The difference is: self harming is exactly that. You might want to refer back the thread about self harming: and see thatI posted far more, far far more, than just hapless accusation and assumptions that those who do self harm, are purely only attention seekers: as you have suggeted here. ;)

Pleurisy can arise through many reasons: not least a viral or bacterial infection (as well as other more serious underlying causes).

it that makes me an attention seeker: I guess you'll just have to live with it. ;)

Lostalex, seriously now :nono: Mids, if you're not getting enough relief from the medication you're on, should you go back to the docs? I've a feeling any time I heard of someone with pleurisy it was automatic hospitalisation. I'm not trying to freak you out, and they were always fine after, but it's a very acute condition, isn't it? I think you need to get yourself 24 hr monitoring for a while. Just saunter up to A&E if they're not inclined to refer you. Then ever time the drugs trolley hovers into view, say 'Yes Please'.

At doc on late on Wedn. She told me if it didn't ease up after 1 or 2 days to go straight to A&E or if I felt any worse at all. I really cannot fault her Pats, she was great.

I didn't start taking meds till Wed night/Thurs morni so yesterday was effectively going just going into the 24hours of being on meds.... and I wasn't taking the Tramadol during working hours as I'd been told it may badly affect concentration, shouldn't drive. It's still as painful as hell, though there's is a definate 'edge' off how sore it was yesterday, and the breathing is a little easier, am getting a deeper breathe now : and I can spend today and tomorrow taking the right amount of painkillers - so I'm hoping between that, and literally resting - and not moving about much - that will help.

Otherwise: it will be a visit to the local hospital. Crosses fingers and toes though.

It's a huge change. I remember it all too well: was 15 when I left Saudi to go to East Sussex - me and my boyfriend sat in my bedroom sobbing our hearts out at being 'torn apart' ! PSML!!

It will be a bit daunting, a bit frightening, but it will an adventure, and I am sure you will be fine once you settle down. Think of all the stories you'll have to tell others about your life in Singapore etc. Plus you will have 2 months to settle into life in England again.

Sooty.... !!! You're mad!!

I love the pics... esp the bottom one. Has a look of Alex from BB about him... and right up my street. *licks lips* Suddenly feels much better.

Actually... I am not feeling as bad as I was last night. I wonder if it reached a peak last night and the meds are all starting to work now.

*hopes and prays*

Oh, no! Just when I start to like you, too!

On a more serious note, I'm really sorry to hear about that. I recommend you see a doctor about it. Get better soon. Don't over-work yourself. Stay home.

:)

You missed half the thread !!! Docs done and dusted. Starting to feel much better - wish I'd gone sooner tbh, but hey: that's what I get for putting it off and putting work first. Hey ho and all that.

Cool! I'm glad to hear you feel better. I'd still recommend you stay off work for a few weeks or so; it isn't good to overwork your body just after you start to feel better. Take a holiday at home. You don't want to get ill again!

I am the Manager!! I'm not really into self harm !!

My own manager is the Director: if I can sit here and type in pain and discomfort, I can sit in work and type in pain and discomfort. Nothing wrong with my arms, legs and mouth! It's just the moving about and breathing that's the killer !! :(
