View Full Version : How much booze can you handle?
And be honest. I think this is new anyway. Most threads seem to concern themselves with brands of booze, not the golden question of manhood on everyones mind.

All I know from the time I actually drank more than a pint in a night I had about 5 bottles of magners and wasn't even merry

It's weird with me. It seems to depend on my mood. Sometimes I can handle loads or sometimes I end up being sick fairly quickly, but still carry on drinking anyway. I'm quite a slow drinker really, if I'm a home vokda or cans on a night can last me a while

I'm frustratingly difficult to get drunk...nights out are very expensive for me :(
However, a few glasses of wine always works. Mixers, spirits and beer though takes a while.
I think how much you've had to eat always affects it too.

Depends on the booze, Vodka could knock me for 6 in an hour. I could drink Cider all day and be fine, Budweiser seems to just blow the head off me after 6 pints. anything else is fairly hit and miss.

I start feeling it after about 4 pints of Stella and I'm properly pissed after about 7.
I don't like getting totally out of it though so I drink fairly slowly.
I'll divide it in two. Mentally it goes straight to the head. I go tipsy straight away. Physically though I can keep going without getting sick and usually do.
8 tins of lager is the default night in. I'm a happy drunk but not totally sloshed after them. Anything less and I'm left wanting more
A night out involves 4 tins getting pumped at home, a small bottle of vodka [naggin, not sure does that term exist in England] w/Red Bull at a friends house, 3 or 4 pints of Guiness at the pub, and then I just order two shots at a time at the clubs and just go apeshit after an unspecified amount of time.
I do love that totally gone feeling you get. I remember asking my mate to order me food at the takeaway when the rest of us went upstairs to the flat. The second I got into the flat I started tearing stuff up wondering where my chicken was. Makes no sense but it's great, like.
I drink way too fast too. I cannot go slow at all.

It seems to depend, sometimes if I haven't eaten and I'm drinking quickly I'll start getting drunk after 4 or 5 pints or so, but other times if I'm pacing myself I can drink quite a lot. I used to be pretty bad with my drink but I'm a lot better now, if I'm going out I normally start off with 4 or 5 cans of lager & then move on to spirits & mixers and sometimes the odd jager bomb

I drink far too quickly. Most people have a few sips and stand with their drink in their hand but I just have to drink it. Same with regular drinks, too.
I've never been out with anyone that can outdrink me on anything apart from vodka, I can't have more than about 2/3 shots of that straight in a row without wanting to be sick.

A bottle of wine and a bottle of vodka is my limit. I don't always drink that, but that's the most I ever do, but not the most I have ever done though. But anything more has always included vomiting. Especially with 70% proof Absinthe and such like.

I can drink a full Four Loko and be drunk but still fine. I know alot of people who throw up after not even drinking a full one.
I can do about 8 beers before throwing up, more or less. Maybe 7 is more accurate. I can't really say for sure because i'm usually drunk after the 4th one and don't remember much from then on.
But I get sick way easier if I have beer. I've never gotten sick after mixed drinks or liquor (only if I've mixed it with beer, VERY bad mistake I made once).
I'm 6'0 and 118 lbs.

Pre drinks = 4 pints/4 doubles of spirits with a mixer
Once out again it's over 4 doubles and mixers or pints or rocket fuels if I'm really going for it (Mix of 50% Gin, Vodka and... something and 50% orange juice.) That usually gets me merry enough for a stomachache the next morning.
I guess I can handle quite a lot seeing as I'm only 10 stone haha, but I'd never identify as an unstoppable tank. I did finish a centurian partially with spirits once because I ran out of beer. Now I sound like I'm boasting. I'll shut the **** up now.

I'm 9.5 stone and 5'8 and can handle more than my mate who's taller and weighs a lot more than me. But then again, he only drinks now and again. I think it's more to do with the fact that the more often you drink, the higher your tolerance becomes.

It depends on the booze really, for me also it depends on the setting.
I could drink for Ireland by myself in my room when I'm annoyed and just listen to music and be fine, the last time I did that I found myself dancing to the radio on GTA: Ballad of Gay Tony and then falling and ended up falling asleep on the floor.
The other week I only had about 7 Cans of Harp or something [this wasn't in my room lol] and was completely pissed; Niall is a witness .
So yeah it depends on the booze and probably the setting, sometimes.

Slavics have an imhuman tolerance to booze and produce some of the finest beer and vodka in the world.
Ireland has a great reputation with booze but it certainly doesn't lie with lager. Moreso stout and whiskey.
Polish booze is the business. It's cheaper and stronger.

Generally quite a bit before I get drunk.
But it also depends on how much I have eaten that day. I usually have to drink a lot but then it hits me like a ton of bricks randomly and I'm never really eased into drunkenness. I did 20 shooters in a bar once all in a row and I still was not drunk after that so had 3 vodka limes and then ot hit me really quick. If I haven't eaten anything that day though I can get drunk of one or two vodka mixers.
But I hardly am ever sick, only been sick once.
Usually:
Pres: 2 ciders and a vodka mixer
Out: Lots of shooters/shots until I'm drunk. Generally vodka based drinks.

Oooh. Interesting thread. Don't get the vomiting guys? What are ye doing wrong? Only time I ever got sick after drink was when some gobshoite gave me a two litre bottle of poteen, which I thought was water, and slugged out of accordingly. There was a time when all I drank was neat Jameson. Shot after shot after shot. And I'd murder anyone who put water, ice or anything else into it. But it made me gnarly. At college I used to win all the drinking competitions. A particular favourite was a tequila shot, a bailey's, a tequila shot, a bailey's, a tequ........... you get the picture, until everyone bar one sitting around the table had fallen down. I never fell down.
I have grown up and got sense. Nowadays, a nice bottle of Merlot - just the one - or seven or eight bottles of beer, once or twice a week and I'm happy.

I agree with the bolded bit. But generally speaking alot depends on what I drink, wine, I can drink one bottle, if I drink even one extra glass after that I'll be sick but I can switch to another drink and be fine. Beer I could drink forever, I get to a certain level of drunkness and I start to get a hangover. Spirits I've banned myself from drinking more then two in a night, especially vodka, I used to drink it all the time but it made me go loopy, have black outs and usually an argument.

I was amazed when I visited my cousin in Surrey many moons ago - we were low on supplies to drink for taking the train on the way to London to see Scottish Claymores play at Stamford Bridge.
