It's pretty freaking crazy. If i can't trust a major corporation for my news, then who the hell can i trust?

You mean i might actually have to start thinking for myself!??? :o

I've been involved with the press for most of my working life and I have to say that in my experience they're 80% untrustworthy scum of the Earth and 20% genuine professionals. Just my personal view, of course.

I am not a member of the press, I said I have been involved with the press. The clue was in the words.

Rightly or wrongly, there's an impression in Ireland that the figure's a little more leaning the other way; we have fewer tabloids and much more 'serious' journalism moving most copies on a day to day basis. Then there's the network of tv, radio and local journalism professionals (everywhere) who never have anything to do with the more salacious end of journalism. It is wearing, though, to constantly see ALL journalists lumped in together when the profession plays a hugely important and significant role in people's lives. Imagine a world with no formal media.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the matter at hand. The quality of the broadsheet media, however, ensure the spectacular fall of the government that led us into the mess.

Step for a hint lostalex. I think the reason people aren't getting it isbecause you've put this in the Serious Debates section when I suspect that having a serious debate on your opening post wasn't quite your intention.
