Why are all the BB stories we keep getting exactly the opposite of what we want to hear?

Big Brother makes sure there is no escape!

For the upcoming series of Big Brother, bosses will be ensuring that there is no possible escape for housemates and will remove all opportunities to make contact with the outside world.

August sees the return of the famous reality show, with a Celebrity edition to start the ball rolling, although there will be a major surprise instore.

10ft brown wooden fences have been erected the whole way around the Big Brother compound, which completely shuts off contact to the public:

(Thanks to @MarkWD6 for the image)

For producers this will ensure that housemates do not climb the roofs and escape and will also prevent fans shouting and throwing items over the garden walls.

Despite this, for fans it may be a different story. It is unknown if these fences travel the whole length around the house or if they just guard the garden. If this is the case then we may not get to see housemates enter the house on launch night and there is a possibility that the outside shows which usually feature crowds on eviction nights could be scrapped.
This news comes after it was confirmed that the previous George Lucas studios, which housed eviction night recordings, would not be used and portacabins would be imported as an alternative to act as offices and technical equipment rooms.

Celebrity Big Brother will return this August on Channel 5 followed by the normal series in September.

Let us know what you make of these gigantic fences.

Why not just have C5 name this the summer house in the UK. to mimic the summer house in the US. Without a crowd its sh!t
I agree the crowd should stop with the booing. I think the uk is the only one where Ive seen/heard booing for the entry & exit of HMs.

Its not gonna happen i think they have just fenced the garden.

Evictions are the main thing for BB so i cannot see them taking away any crowds.

On the back of my application form in my audition there was a piece of paper saying something like "If you are unsuccesfull on getting into the house would you like priority pass to be an audience member for live evictions or any Big Brother related programmes"....I ticked no coz i didnt wanna look like a wannabe lol....D!ck

I wouldnt worry guys.

Evictions will be really anticlimactic, then. All that excitement of who's gonna be evicted, then..

Every eviction would be like when Gos from BB4 got evicted lol

The one thing I hoped they would change is evictions but not this way.
I absolutely hated it when Davina started talking to the house from inside the eviction studio to prevent booing.
Because of that we didn't get any "get grace out" which was brilliant because for that whole week she was so paranoid. It was great to see how the housemates reacted and I hoped that they would return it to the previous way. Sadly, it looks like another step in the wrong direction.

I liked it better when Davina spoke to the house from the studio. I don't want the housemates to know how they're perceived by the public until the moment they step out the doors.

they wouldnt dare to do this.

I like that it's reinforcing the 'no contact with the outside rule' and we all know the crowd can be a bit overbearing but something else should be done to block the crowd noise out rather than scrap the crowd completely.

Just thinking about the lack of crowd for the BB4 launch or the odd evictions like Gos, Kitten, Jade during CBB and Beinazir on that bus makes me cringe.

Actually, this is one change I could live with.

OK, so there wont be such an atmosphere at evictions, but it will mean no contact with the outside world, which loads of people have said they want. I was sick of everyone getting booed all the time, I mean, booing people on the way in before anyone knows anything about them is ridiculous, as is booing a winner (even if I didn't like her). In the last couple of years most of the HM's have known that everyone gets booed so it doesn't make much difference to them.
It also might stop some HM's thinking they're celebrities before they've even left.

I think it is important to have a crowd on the final night though and possibly the entrance too. A smaller studio audience would be plenty for normal evictions.

Meaning you are a wannabe, you just don't want to come across as being one - otherwise you'd have said, "I ticked no coz I'm not a wannabe..." ;)

Don't necessarily agree with all - ie: a winner can (and should) be booed if that's how the public feel - if they feel they don't deserve to have won - they should be allowed to voice that. The other flip is that crowds can be manipulated - running with the 'It's all panto' theme: and be told to 'boo' / 'cheer' etc.

Completely agree with the BIB though, totally.

I hope the crowds are there but if they are and its like how it was in the last 2 BB series, then they mightas well not have been.

I think there will be crowds,it is a major feature of BB although even that was ruined in the last series to a degree.

That's from Total Big Brother. Do not believe what they say. It's run by some stupid guy who takes a story and runs with it. You can tell that by the way it's written. They have no proof as to where the fence stops and can you imagine Emma or Brian just standing infront of a fence? It's not going to happen. Even C5 Aren't that stupid, but Total Big Brother, unfortuntately, is.

Without the crowds no one will be afraid to leave other than the fact they haven't won the money. :(

The paranoia of housemates before leaving was good tv.

The planning application for the portacabins includes the following pararaph:

The Big Brother set consists of a temporary building within a contained and
highly controlled area to the south of the George Lucas Studio building and
includes ancillary areas used as part of the production. Between the two
buildings (George Lucas Studios and Big Brother House) there is a large
area of hardstanding which is used for live audience events in connection
with the Big Brother series.

Nothing there to suggest the live audiences are scrapped. The earlier renewal of the BB House application still included the standard paragraph:

Open air television audiences in connection with the use for television production of the Big Brother House shall only be permitted on the site for a maximum of 22 days in each year...

Ah thats fine then. Hope the area just isnt made that much smaller with area taken up by cabins. However there is a large area to the side of the house which is never used at the evictions as the portable toilets are placed there for the crowd and they are easily moved so hopefully the cabins can go there.

Why can't they just make the host announce the result on the vote alone in a quiet room? Then let them walk out to a crowd!

I can tell you Endemol are still requesting their 22 crowds a year, with a maximum of five non-Friday evictions, although there is some truth in the article about the creation of a "Big Brother enclosure", which does include the crowd area at the front of the house and the likely (i.e. only possible!) location for the new studio.

Losing the crowd though wouldn't be the worst thing in the world - they're there to add atmosphere, and a chorus of boos isn't an atmosphere most BB fans want.

First of all I'd like to apologise for the article in question. It has been edited, and an apology prepended to the post.

The author of said article honestly was under the impression that the fence wrapped around the whole house due to some tweets from the author of the photo.

Actually, it wasn't patronising. It was my personal observation based on what you yourself had written.

If you want to be insulting, please feel free, but I do think it's only fair for me to reciprocate in some tiny miniscule way by pointing out that it's actually 'douche'. (with an 'e').

And for the millionth time stop writing you're posts like you're writing a novel.

No one is impressed.
