No one has bought the show, Endemol have always owned it. They are paid by Channel 4/5/whoever to make the show, while Channel 4/5/whoever make money by selling ads around it. (Ideally more than they paid Endemol to make it!)

I can't understand why they'd need to change the names from a legal perspective; only if they wanted to change the type/content of the spin-offs
