Sonia started her music career in 1989 with her Top 10 debut album ‘Everybody Knows’ spawning 5 top 20 hits in the early 90s, including her number one track ‘You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You’. Success however was short lived, with Sonia’s second album peaking at 33, resulting in the split between her and her record label.

In 1993, Sonia represented the UK in the Eurovison song contest, finishing in second place with ‘Better the Devil You Know’.

The 40-year-old, who also performed on number one charity single ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’, is now set to become one of the first Celebrity Big Brother housemates on Channel 5.

“Sonia is very excited about returning to the public eye,” a source said, “Big Brother could do wonders for her career.”

A Big Brother insider added: “Bosses want to attract as many viewers as possible so this year we can expect a huge range of celebrities. The wishlist includes breakthrough stars such as Amy Childs [from The Only Way Is Essex] as well as those with careers spanning decades such as Boy George.”

Other celebs rumoured to be entering the house include Imogen Thomas, Steve Strange and Jedward

Celebrity Big Brother returns to screens next month on Channel 5.
