With all respect to Brian why couldn't they have just given the show credibility for once and got a decent presenter who is taken serious in their industry, straight away this puts a cloud over the show. For me Kate Thornton , Emma Willis or even Kate Walsh would have a bit more credibility. To me this is an insult that they think he is a decent replacement for a woman who presented the show for eleven years and for a lot of the time the only reason to watch....
Let's be fair we have stuck through a show that many people look down on and when they give us an ex housemate who hasn't presented a show in over five years as a replacement for Davina it's really a huge let down - really expected more

Does Kate Thornton have the passion for it like Brian you would imagine would have? Its a big part of his life. Would Kate Walsh have the passion for it? Its all ok having the required skills but Big Brother is no normal presenting show if you understand what im saying.
Perhaps Emma Willis could of done it but she is doing the BBLB show isn't she?

agreed - it's as if by aquiring the show they feel that they need to show C4 that they got all the ex housemates in that same deal, when i would of prefered an actual presenter rather than somebody whos fame is based on winning the show

100% agree this should have been a chance for a fresh start and regain credibility for the show and that hope I had of been able to go to work and chat about big brother as we used to able to do has just been popped in a single decision -
Kate Thornton or Kate Walsh might not have had passion but they have credibility when a fresh show starts you are impressed by either the judge presenter or contestants - as this is a new chance on a new channel thought channel 5 would have grabbed the chance to claim the show as their own but they insist on using ex housemates in adverts and using one to present the bloody thing so much for their " fresh start " .....

Kate Walsh? What the F are you on?
I'm not a fan of the Brian Dowling idea. This route will just come off as cheap and tacky with no professionalism.

To be fair, we will only see Brian for an hour a week. It isn't the end of the world.

Yeah maybe she wasnt the best exampl bit I she has presenting skills - in the whole I'm trying to say just because you hbe passion do something doesnt make it a good choice - we all have passion but none of us have been approached .....

Such a big part of his life he didn't think twice about slagging it off when it suited him.

Poor decision on channel 5's behalf.
I loved Davina and think Brian wont be a bad host but in terms of trying to rekindle the Big Brother flame; so to speak, I think this will just do the opposite. Any new viewers they might have gained wont tune in because this makes it appear like an extension of the failing Channel 4 show and those that tuned in for Davina; who did make some of the more boring evictions a little nore bearable, will be lost.
I don't want to be a pessimist but I fear that BB may be a flop. :/

Who hasn't slagged off something they love in their life? You get that sort of thing all the time.
I think he does love Big Brother, as it has made him what he is but we will just have to wait and see if he can do the presenter job. I don't think we can compare his old presenting work to this as it is a different gravy and requires different skills and basically is just different.

Still unforgiveable how he hijacked Davina's final moments last year.

YES! I thought I was the only one who noticed that!
I hated him for that. It was a blatant plug for the new presenter spot. Looks like it worked.

Brian is a presenter though... since leaving the house thats kind of what hes always done :p

How to make a show look instantly cheap, amateur and tacky;
Brian Dowling - Main presenter
