Who's online stats:-
33 members and 146 guests
What a shame that those figures weren't reversed.

Was that invisible or invincible?
I'm opting for 'invincible' !
:D
If invisible: it's still 3 times more lurkers - but that's a bit of a red herring too as far as stats go - I'm set to invisible - but I'm also actively posting. Therefore - am I in the 'members online' or in the 'guests' stats?

Okay but whats the point you're getting at? Surely all forums have more guests than actual members online?

Most of the guests are usually looking at the threads with naked housemates in or that thread about someone's clitoris with loads of views.
And probably Viagra :bored:

Sure, all forums will have lurkers and guests. The point is pretty obvious - I said it in my OP. It's a shame the figures weren't reversed -ie: more members actually being active on the threads/forum.

That's even worse then.
Deduct any possible members who haven't logged on - and it means that effectively - there is not the slightest interest from non members for Tibbs.
Not the best. :(

I have always wondered how it tells wether you are online an what constitutes as online. For example if I leave a page open but put my laptop to sleep, would it still think I was online or not?
Or how long it takes to recognise a member has gone offline. So if you leave a page of about 6 seconds will it recognise you have gone offline in those 6 seconds before you come back on.

I suspect that despite being logged on: once the system recognises that that member has not been 'active', it may therefore adjust accordingly?

Oh totally - I agree.
It's the fact that they are not enticed into actually joining / participating - that's the bit that I'm zooming in on.
The site isn't exactly swamped with new members registering - ie: it's been seen as good for 'viewing' only. Is that possibly because of the way the forum is currently, what it covers, how it's covered, etc that it draws in less new members and more lurkers?

I agree with you, I know I looked at this forum and Digital spy last year when BB was on, but then decided to join this one after a week or so.
It does make you think what may be needed to have them take that step to join though and then be able to make comments too.

The yahtzee game is broke. The score he got isnt even possible :bored: Im not just saying that because he beat me, but its actually not possible and he admitted that himself
If you view whos online for hours and hours without doing anything else, it will show you as online for the whole time...because the whos online page refreshes every minute or so, so its classed as being active.(If thats what you meant :p )

That's the point though: if that is the case - it means there is very little interest in the forum then outwith what you've mentioned above.
Does this ever get mentioned in the Towers? (on the premise that the site owner wants more members of course)

Nah, it seems like most people are always looking at the dirty threads, but thats only coz it stands out more.
The majority, are looking at BB threads.
Plus, wait til BB actually starts, thats when you will see all the lurkers join up

I clicked and as I did, it showed someone sending a personal message - always thought that was a bit of a giveaway, especially when the 'other' person tends to show as private messaging as well. Between that and being able to see who is reporting. Few amusing wee 'flaws'.
