Whats with the forum?

A few times today i've tried to get on but it keeps saying bandwidth exceeded or something.

Is it a problem my end or yours because i get on most other sites fine!

Cheers in advance...

Oh right, i thought it might have been just my connection or something but seems as though it might be the forums.

It's better its been brought out anyway because the admins might not know about it!

Come on.. get the spanners and screwdriver out and fix this!

Hiya,

Yeah, apologies for the downtime on TiBB. It's caused by the amount of traffic on the site and forum (the price of popularity )

I pay a fixed amount a year for TiBB Hosting, but obviously during BB the traffic goes crazy, so more bandwidth will need to be purchased. I think we are the only BB fansite that I know of that doesn't plaster the site with adverts to make money to pay for the hosting of the site. It comes out of my pocket, and I'm just a poor, broke student :spin: Its a personal choice that I decided upon when the site first started becoming popular. I'm sure visitor’s appreciate not having annoying banners all over the site and forum, and adverts to sign up at some other site to get a free £10 bet you have no interest in whatsoever.

I spoke with the host just now, and more bandwidth is going to need to be purchased, this month we have had nearly 8 million hits. In the meantime he is doing his best to keep the site online for us. James has offered to help me out buying some more bandwidth, so a BIG thanks to him.

Fingers crossed it shouldn't go down again, but keep checking back and it should reappear :spin2:

Sorry for any inconvenience, and thanks for making TiBB your number 1 site and forum!

- Mark

Thanks for updating us Mark. I kind of guessed it was due to the amount of traffic, its been very busy lately.

That would be a good idea, because you shouldn't have to pay it all out of your own pocket, plus i bet there are enough willing people on here to put donations forth. I for one wouldn't mind putting forth one.

Might be an idea for you too ponder.

Yup, 2 or 3 from a few of us who work. After all, we get this place for free and 2 or 3 quid for anyone who works is nothing really.

You can add me to that list - i wouldn't mind contributing a small amount of money.

I mean, i give money to some sites and i hardly even use them! Last time BB was on i paid £8/10 online to watch it over the net and i hardly used it!

I probably spend more of my time on this site then, most of the sites i've ended up paying subscription for, so that says alot!

619 posts in 6 weeks!!! And you don't come on here much

Seriously though, it's an idea for those that work, who could afford to chuck a few £ in.

You seem to be taking exams soon, so no-one would expect you to make a donation, as it wouldn't be fair

Does a £5 even buy 2 pints these days? I don't drink, but i'm sure it costs more.

I can't say I pay for any sites, but this site is better moderated than any i've seen and is worth helping out.

What a wonderful bunch you all are - I totally agree with you all though.

I would be happy to contribute a little each month so that it does not all come out of one persons pocket.

Come on Mark let us help!

Count me in... if I have any money to spare I'd be more than happy to chuck it into the TiBB fund.

The chances of me having any spare money is slim to none
