Amy Winehouse dying got me thinking about celebrities dying and peoples reactions to it. Which celebrities death has affected/upset you most so far?

For me, it was Kurt Cobain :(

Strangely, I was probably most affected by Diana's death. I have very little interest in the royal family but was very shocked and upset when she died..

Others that have upset me are: Freddie Mercury, Heath Ledger and Corey Haim :(

Dianas death seems to be a popular choice, I know my mom was really upset about that too.

River Phoenix and Brandon Lee were two others that I was upset about.

Affected as in, you liked their films/music or whatever and will miss hearing/seeing them, even?

I think Amy Winehouse has affected me the most. I didn't realize how much I loved her music. I think back to black was the first album I bought with my own money.

I've shed tears over Michael Jackson, Johnny Cash and Amy Winehouse... none others that I can remember. I guess it's because music is a huge thing for me.

Oh I was really sad to hear about Leslie Nielsen last year :( and the death of Beinazir Bhutto was quite shocking to me because I'd been following her in the news only recently prior to her murder.

John Peel is a good one. Eddie Guerrero and John Lennon are my two. Even though Lennon died a decade before I was born his death still resonates with me because I sort of hero worship him. Flawed character and all.

I did cry when Kurt died but I think it was because I was a teenager and I was more emotionally invested in the music I listened to then.

I saw Michael Jacksons death as a blessing because I really don't think he wanted to grow old. Plus musically he had peaked long since and was never gonna get back up there. Impossible when your album has sold over 80million.

^^ :(

so many celeb deaths lately it's upsetting. The one that affected me the most was definitely MJ. It was like a part of my childhood died and I loved my childhood. I literally cried as if a relative had died. till this day it still hurts cause apart from the millions he was like a lost and misunderstood soul. :( watching his videos i still cry a bit. still cant believe it

Aaliyah, lisa left eye, river phoenix (wasn't old enough but when i see his movies it pains me. he was so beautiful and a great actor) brad renfro and jonathan brandis 2 childhood crushes gone through trouble too. jonathan hanged himself at 27 :( corey heim and rich cronin :(

oh yeah jade goody too. wasn't a huge fan of heath ledger but still sad loss

Brittany Murphy's accidental overdose on over the counter medication affected me more than any other celebrity death because I found her quite endearing, and enjoyed all of the films I'd seen her in. Then, the death of her husband Simon Monjack a few months later, the same way she died, I found even more devastating. It's obviously a very romantic exaggeration to say that he died of a broken heart but that's how it was portrayed in the media and I think it's true - a once healthy man breaking down so badly in 5 months that he died too? So that was a very sad pair of deaths. Other than that, no celebrity deaths have bothered me, I don't really have many celebrities that I look up to or actively enjoy their contributions in whatever field they're famous for.

Oh yeah, I remember that. That made me quite sad actually.

I was playing in a football tournament for my school on the day after it happened (happened in a night match) so, on the coach on the way there, everyone on the team decided that we'd dedicate all our goals to him :joker:

Yeah, that's one for me too. My mum picked me up from school on the day it happened and it was on the radio. I was gutted. If I remember right, it was just as he was getting back to his Lie, Cheat, Steal gimmick after being a heel for a while.

That episode of RAW they dedicated to him was insane. It was surreal to see guys like Big Show in floods of tears.

Amy's cause im just so sad that we might nto get new music from her because I dont think she'd peaked.

Eddie Guerrero's was so bad as well knowing one of your favourite wrestlers died after sorting his life out and then watching the tribute shows and seeing a 400 odd pound man who's 7 foot tall cry like a baby just affected me loads.

Proof's because I had really gotten into his music and I knew that it would be the downfall of eminem.

In my living time.. Jade Goody.
I know she wasn't perfect and did a lot of wrong. But she lived in the media eye which is probably why it was so bad.

I much rather see Jade Goody in the OK magazines rather than Jordan or Kerry Katona. Shame.

With Michael Jackson I was just shocked at the time. Wasn't upset. Probably saw it coming really.

Amy Winehouse was a shock as well. At the same time I wasn't upset. But still not surprised because she's a druggy.

At the risk of sounding like a terminal bottom-kisser again... Ayrton Senna was also a hero of my brothers. I remember seeing F1 cars disintegrate, or flip end over end, or catch fire, and the drivers walked away. Then Senna hit that wall and it seemed like hardly anything, just a little knock... but he didn't move. Horrible.

Only Amy Winehouse.

She got what she wanted in the end, so I am not so upset about her death. She never found happiness and that's what is so upsetting for me.

She could have beaten the addiction; she had more than enough chances. I truly think she didn't want to and was just waiting to die.
