Should be noted that Adele's 21 has already risen in sales since this recent survey so she's probably a bit higher by now. Actually, I think its safe to assume she'll take the top spot at some point this year.

All the top 10 are British acts.

Also, just a note about Amy Winehouse's Back to black: for OCC purposes, the album’s sales are split between the original (2,262,399) and deluxe double disc version (824,764), with a further 5,035 sales from the Back To Black/Frank double disc set.

Overall sales of 3,092,198 would place the album second on the list above. Inevitably, Winehouse’s death will result in a huge surge in sales of Back To Black and her entire catalogue a week hence but occurred too late on Saturday to make much of an impression on the current lists.

1. Back To Bedlam – James Blunt (3,239,713 sales)

2. No Angel – Dido (3,062,777)

3. Spirit – Leona Lewis (3,034,653)

4. White Ladder – David Gray (2,940,575)

5. 1 – The Beatles (2,898,235)

6. Life For Rent – Dido (2,866,350)

7. Beautiful World – Take That (2,820,079)

8. A Rush Of Blood... – Coldplay (2,768,947)

9. 21 - Adele (2,764,356)

10. Hopes And Fears – Keane (2,761,649)

I can't see Back to Bedlam ever being overtaken now.. unless that Adele album does it anyway.

I'm glad the best Coldplay album is in there and not one of the others. Dido can get ****ed though. Miserable overrated cow.

I think Adele's 21 will overtake James Blunt's. 21 is still number one,it may not be this week coming but it has a long stay in the higher positions of the charts for ages to come yet.

If Adele dies it will

she doesn't need to die. She'll pass it easily. Probably this year but certainly next year.

Her first album 19 proves that her albums have great longevity saleswise.

It will.. Spirit is like 30k off it & its still in the rnb charts after 100 weeks & her 3rd album & US & UK X factor performance will increase Spirits sales.. It will be #2 & then go to #3 when Adele overtakes

That means nothing, you expect Adele's album to just stop selling?

It is, that album wont sell anywhere near 30K, you've bought into your own hype about Leona.

I think you're being a bit simplistic in your thinking. Leona isn't the only one on that list capable of sudden increases in sales. I don't see why its more likely that Dido or Gray. The Beatles are far more likely to add to their sales than she is so they may well leap above her. They come in and out of fashion on a regular basis.

I don't even dislike Leona but I really don't see her being the force she was. She's just not interesting enough. Plus if she comes back trying to be something different it may well backfire.
