View Full Version : Worst way of dying.

A nice cheery little thread!!
What for you would be the worst way of dying?
For me, I'd count burning or suffocating as being the two ways that I would personally hate to be ways in which I would die.
I realise there are many other longer term ways that would involve terrible slow, painful even agonising death:but for me, the ones that are uppermost that way be the ones I'd rather not lose my life in would be burning - due to the pain, and suffocating: due to the absolute panic and fear that I imagine it would bring, before death.
What are your worst ways that you would fear losing your life in?

Having to listen to Placebo or the Red Hot Silly Peppers would be a bad way to go
Being buried alive starving to death slowly and no one can hear you or anything and you can hardly move and all you can see is darkness.. would be a horrible way to go.

You can experience that on the Northern line

yeah, that wouldn't be on my best list either I have to say.
(on a side note: that is one of the reasons the Victorians brought about the idea of a bell being fitted to a coffin... for this very reason! Friday morning bit of useless info there!)
Thought that was the Chinese that did that

Why the hate for Placebo :bored:
Being buried alive or falling from a massive height.

Buried alive, falling off a building, drowning, burning, dismembered
Niamh.

Apparently, drowning is one of the best ways to go

I would hate the feeling of not being able to breathe without taking in water every time you opened your mouth, but there are a lot worse ways to go.
Would hate to be decapitated as well because apparently you dont die until a few seconds after it happens I think.

Being chopped up into tiny little pieces and shoved in a kitty.
Apparently being buried alive wouldn't actually be that bad because you'll fall unconscious and die after a couple of minutes from lack of air, unless it was a really spacious coffin or something, it would be a horrible 2 minutes though. The worst death is a long one,
like starvation, or being tortured to death or something like that

What your body does? :conf2:

I suppose if you're decapitated then you'd last for 5-10 seconds while blood still pumped around for a little bit before it all escaped?

I doubt you'd actually feel it as such though as you wouldn't have a head attached so couldn't really register any pain

yeah but you'd still have the realisation your head wasn't with your body D:

I doubt it, I reckon you wouldn't be thinking anything, probably hallucinating and seeing lights and such

Buried alive or being burnt to death
Drowning is meant to be really painful so Ive heard niamh D:
And apparently its true that you dont actually die straight away when decapitated. You wont feel the pain I dont think, but your brain still works for a little bit so theres a possibility you would be looking at your own body which is just awful :bored:

Oh really? I don't remember where I heard that it's a peaceful way to go

Its basically suffocation, with water. Cant imagine it would be very nice D:

My fella almost drowned in a canoeing accident. He said that it was unexpectedly peaceful. After the initial panic he said that he felt a strange sense of calm and acceptance that he was going to die.
Basically anything that isn't slipping away peacefully in my sleep is a pretty horrific thought.

Just googled it (won't post any links cos they seem like kind of dodgy sites) but here's what one said (It had it listed as the best way to die) :
Drowning. After panic, water inhalation and laryngospasm, "a feeling of calmness and tranquility" sets in, according to reports from survivors.

Maybe drowning will go up my list of ways i want to die then
So does your body stay alive after being decapitated or your head :conf2: the head would be worse

Drowning or Burnt Alive.
I think falling from a massive height would be a rather fun exciting way to go to be honest. And you would be going so fast I doubt you would feel it.

Your head
Your head
Oh right :/ always thought it would be your body because that's what happens with chickens I think, if it was your head and you were still capable of thinking that'd be so weird

Probably burning, the feeling of knowing you are trapped and cannot get out, that time before you pass out must be frantic and horrible to go through.

Being buried alive is the worst way to go imo.
Being burnt would be pretty horrific too. I'd imagine it would be quite a slow death.
I don't think suffocation would be that bad, at least it's fairly quick. Same with drowning.
I wouldn't mind falling off a building either. Again, it's quick.

Oh no I would hate that, what if its a really high building and your falling for ages just knowing that when you reach the bottom your going to splatter :bawling:

If you jumped out of somewhere high enough you would go unconscious before you hit the ground.
And whilst falling you really don't think. Its kind of impossible. I have done 6 bungy jumps and when you fall its literally like time is stood still because you can't really take in anything.

Came across this. Don't like the sound of that at all..... :(
With most forms of death, unconsciousness meets the victim before the grim reaper does, thus releasing the dying person from the fear that grips him. But the moments before death can be fraught with fear and pain.
A physician we interviewed recounts the story of a laborer in Africa (http://maps.howstuffworks.com/maps-of-africa.htm) who worked around vats of sulfuric acid -- one of the most caustic forms of acid. The man fell in one day. He quickly leapt out, but was covered in sulfuric acid, which immediately began to burn him chemically. In a panic and excruciating pain, the man ran outside. By the time his coworkers caught up to him, the man had essentially dissolved.
The acid burned the man to death, searing through skin, cauterizing blood (http://health.howstuffworks.com/blood.htm)vessels, and eating through organs until he died. The pain would be unbearable, and the circumstances irreversible. This is unquestionably a really bad way to die.
