Why do Channel 5 do this?

I just noticed this today when waiting for the BB12 Ad.

They put the little '5' ident in before EVERY SINGLE Advert.

They did this years ago too but I thought it'd stop once they went from 'Five' to '5'.

But apparently not?

What is it? Why do they do it?
They're the only channel I think do it, I'm not sure if 'Watch' does it too.

Is it to remind people that are watching one of their little movies, what channel they're on - so they know to come back because Channel 5 struggles to catch any viewers other than for a split second when we're skipping up from 'Channel 4' to 'Sky One'.

Yeah I noticed this too on the rare ocassion that I'm watching Channel 5, it's so annoying.

In Wales, Channel 4 isn't channel 4. It's 117 on Sky and not available if you don't have digital. So channel 5 is between S4C and Sky One here. </random>

Yeah S4C Takes up our Channel 4 Slot on Sky. So its ITV Wales. S4C Where they talk aload of random welsh crap and then Channel 5 (Which you need a sky card for!)

What strikes me as odd though, is that they haven't incorporated the new eye into them. Surly that would maximize people's awareness even more!?

Probably to remind people what they are watching and basically to tell them they need to get a grip of their lives.
In America, CBS put a ridiculously big banner across the screen after every ad break telling people what show their watching, e.g. YOURE WATCHING CSI MIAMI, just incase people have forgotten what show they were watching 3 minutes previously.

Ironic really considering from the end of UBB until around February he was the one and only person banging on about how sure he was BB was coming back and telling everyone to "stop being negative" and hope for the best. Umm durrrr the OP is referring to how 5 does it LITERALLY inbetween every single advert. Other channels don't do that.
