If we look at recent over night ratings in the past few weeks, we can tell that channel 4 has significantly dropped compared to recent years.
We can also tell that sense the Resmond take-over that channel 5 ratings have significantly rose.
These channels are now quickly becoming close rivals.
What do you think about the re launch of big brother and will that cast shadows over channel 4?

Im really interested in seeing these ratings in action when Big Brother makes a return in 2 and a half weeks time. it would be interesting to see if this does actually happen then.
Channel 5 - UP
Channel 4 - DOWN
All due to big brother, proving them that getting rid of it would of been the worst thing for Channel 4! it could of been there flagship show if they did all these changed when BB10 aired. i think if this kinda re-vamp (new eye etc...) happend on C4 2 years ago it would of lasted another decade.

I totally agree
Everyone is having doubts, I'm just praying that channel 5 pull it off
It would be epic to see the hard look on channel 4 faces if channel 5 was pulling in ratings of like 3-5 million a night on the celebrity version and a solid 3 million on the original version

If BB can manage 1.5 - 2M everynight (doubtful with no LF) it should stand a good chance against C4.

It's because C4 used to have some interesting and ground-breaking programmes, now they just seem to focus on tripe.

I am sure that Channel 5 ratings will be up once BB starts,no surprise to me that Channel 4 have slightly falling ratings.

Will be interesting to see just how many people tune in to BB. It's unlikely but we can always hope the numbers are quite impressive. Not BB3 obviously but yknow.

I think most of BB Channel 4s viewers will follow BB to Channel 5

c4 only beat c5 rating overall due to +1, if c5 had a +1 they would clearly beat c4!

ive noticed that, the only times c4 seem to beat c5 is when people watch on c4+1

C4+1 was a lifesaver last year if I was busy when BB was on. I cant watch on Demand5 due to slow internet so im gonna have to move around my social life to make way for BB :bored:

C4 is a mess these days. They seem to show the worst shows ever, and at primetime. All this sex and bad bodies stuff is really boring now.

They will be a C5+1 eventually but I somehow doubt it will be in time for Big Brother :bawling:

BB followers will watch as much as they can as to BB, I really cannot see it failing on channel 5 and I do think Channel 4 may come to regret letting it go.
Really Channel 4 has not much going for it now.

Channel 5 are not beating Channel 4 in the viewer stakes but it is pretty much neck and neck.
If Channel 4 didnt have plus 1 i believe Channel 5 would be way ahead.
I am shocked though that Channel 5 are actually beating C4 on some days. Channel 4 does still have alot more to offer in the way of programming to c5 imo 8 out of 10 cats and Alan Carr: Chatty man being two great shows.
C4 is a mess these days. They seem to show the worst shows ever, and at primetime. All this sex and bad bodies stuff is really boring now.

Although it's suffering in primetime at the moment actually overall C4's ratings are surprisingly up this summer on the same period last year, while E4, More4 and Film4 have all had record shares in Q2 (Apr-Jun). C4 also had more shows top 3m in June this year than last year.

Of course it is.
I'm not saying people are tuning in for BB - but no one even knew about Channel 5's revamp until Big Brother started hitting the press again and news of it's return on C5 spread - that itself is like advertising for Channel 5.

Read the thread title its about comparing C5 and C4 ratings to each other.
Its just interesting to see C5 doing better than C4 at the mo seeing as its allways been seen as the runt of all terestrial channels.
