BB won't be launching on the same night as the CBB finale, as it's een confirmed they need to change the gym into the bathroom before the launch.

Anyway my ratings are:

CBB:
Launch - 4.2M
Average - 3.5M
Final - 3.9M

BB:
Launch - 3M
Average - 2.3M
Final - 2.5M

These ratings are if the rumored celebs are in the house, for example, Amy Childs, Tinie Tempah ect.
If Charlie Sheen is on the show add 2M to each of the CBB ratings.

I wish people would quit saying 'Five' it's:

CH5, C5, 5, Channel 5.

Five reminds me of that old ugly hideous channel that no one liked, you know - the one that claimed they were picking up BB and everyone laughed and thought they would kill it?

I think after all the promotion, I would like to add another 500k to my prediction, so 4.3m. I actually think it could get that.

It's A level night so I'm sure lots will either:
a) Watch it before they go out, I normally go out at 10:30pm and thatt's when it ends.
b) Record it, so the officials will be quite a bit higher than the overnights.

IMO, it is capable of getting 4m+, don't see why not. But it will probably get around 3m.

Im guessing it will be high due to rumours and big names like Jedward and Amy/Kerry who do have large cult fan base (oxymoron) lol

So what do we think?
Channel 5 rating record is a football match which got 5.6 Million

For the 1st time in a few years
All my friends where talking about it on facebook :)
And twitter had at least 3 things related to CBB trending at a time
which is a good note :)

i agree
i know people didnt like it but i gave it a 9/10
it was really good.
If it had livefeed i would give it 10/10

Some may disagree but i think we will get some sort of livefeed soon or for the normal series

Patrick
19-08-2011, 12:14 AM
I agree with OP - Everyone on Facebook was talking about it tonight.

I mean even just people from Belfast, not my English/TiBB Pals - just like everyone was all updating about people going in.

Some of them not even saying Big Brother like you know how during BB6 or something people would be like:

'Oh I hate that wanker Maxwell! Can't believe what he said to Derek? OMG'

And then in BB8 it'd be:

'Oh I hate that wanker Ziggy from Big Brother, did anyone else see what he just said to Caorle on BB there?'

Can you see the difference?

There was a very universal feeling of 'THIS IS AN EVENT' like 'EVERYONE IS WATCHING THIS SH*T TONIGHT!' and we haven't had that since the BB7 Finale.

It was amazing and I hope it stays like this for a long time.

Patrick

The opening night of Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother attracted 5.1m viewers, according to unofficial overnight figures.

But the show failed to top the network's record audience of 5.6m for an England vs Albania World Cup qualifier in 2001.

Last year 5.8m people tuned in for the series launch on Channel 4.

Hi BB fans. I too am supporting Kerry Katona. I think Amy might have blown it by being such a poseur when she went in last night. I predict Mr Pap to quit first!!

What do people think of Brians hosting skills?? A bit wooden if you ask me and very obviously reading from an autocue.....

You can get a good idea by the social buzz, references and mentions in your own daily life. Its interesting how often you will 'guesstimate' by that measure and see it validated in ratings.
I'm not hearing much. The launch yes. I heard a lot of people saying they wanted to see what the new one looked like.
Then nothing really.
Comments (whether at work or friends or twitter etc) comments seem lackluster, unexcited, brief.

In fairness, there is a bit of 'wait and see' for the regular season. Maybe we will be in for a bit of a pleasant surprise?
But I see this going to that 1.2 mark someone mentioned a few posts ago.

I had to switch off the production is so ****ing poor.

I think the problem is 5*, It lost like 80% of its audience from the night before when it was on C5

Doesn't help that it doesn't have a consistent channel either:

Sunday - 5*
Monday - C5
Tuesday - 5*
Wednesday - 5*
Thursday - C5
Friday - C5
Saturday - 5*

Honestly wouldn't be bothered if they cut it to 30 mins and gave us more time for highlights.

I think the ratings will continue to drop just like they were doing on Ch4. They should have either gone for a drastic overall or waited a few years to give it a break.

As such it's just more of the same and unlikely to gain much needed new fans. Just lose old ones.

CharlieO
21-08-2011, 07:25 PM
A 2 year break would have benefited this show hugely. Ratings at this stage show nothing as it could be either an alright success or actually people not liking but just giving it a bit longer to fully judge it. Ratings don't guarantee anything right now.

Think the 10pm slot is affecting it

Normally officials are about 300k-400k up on the overnight so we are looking at around 2.6m/2,7m which is pretty much identical to what most of BB11 was getting, and around 300k higher than BB10 was getting.

However there have been days where the overnights increase by around half a million, mostly on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. I'm sure a BB11 episode timeshifted around 700k last year.

Channel 5 should not be used as an excuse. The excellent launch ratings proved people didn't give a damn what channel it was on. Channel 5 isin't hard to find. It should be compared directly against how it done in it's final few years on Channel 4 and this drop is incredibly dissapointing. Simple as.

I'm terrified of what the main show is going to get now. The launch is just going to feel like another highlights show. I doubt another six million will tune in to see normal people go in to the show they stopped watching after a few nights.

Channel 5 were very clever in advertising and lies they made to get people to watch the launch. The fact of the matter is that that plan has not very much longevity as people feel they cannot trust the channel for getting their hopes up. I doubt the BB12 launch will have nearly the same numbers as the CBB one. But if they have live feed maybe the average will go up.

If these are A-list then what the fck are the likes of Beckham, Elton, Cowell, George Michael, Paul McCartney...or even Cheryl Cole?

they are tabloid/reality show z-listers. Some of them are barely even known to anybody outside their own family. In celeb terms they are the low class element. Celebs who haven't got a stable successful job....or just crave extra fame.

Erm im sure they did yeah
Why would they count a foreign country for the British television ratings?

Irish Republic and English ratings are counted seperate.

Vinnie Jones and Brigitte Nelson are not even remotely as famous as Tara Reid is. I am from America...

yes you are

which is exactly what makes your first sentence so irrelevant here.

Vinnie is a superstar here...of football and film fame. Even Brigitte is far more well known than Tara here, albeit for low class reasons.

Even in America I think Tara is the poor mans Lindsay Lohan.

What I mean is, they tried to make Vinnie out to be some big Hollywood star as if he's famous over here when he's not.

Of course they will, wundergay. Nobody is disputing that. However I assume the OP was talking about Ireland. The Republic. The country that lost Big Brother on television this year. Not ... you know the small bit up at the top of Ireland that everyone knows is part of Britain and has Channel 5.

He's been in huge films. But even before his film career he was a superstar footballer in the UK. TBH his film career is secondary in the UK.

Again, his status in America is irrelevant to BB UK. We dont know most of the "big stars" on US reality shows either.

Well yeah when people say " Ireland " common knowledge usually tells you they mean ROI and not Northern Ireland a huge mistake on the part of wundergay here

Here are the ratings of CBB7, to compare. HOWEVER, these ratings included the +1 viewers, which usually was 200,000-300,000 viewers. So subtract that amount.

Launch Sunday: 6.2m
Monday: 3.5m
Tuesday: 3.2m
Wednesday: 3.2m
Thursday: 3.1m
Friday: 2.6m
Saturday: 2.9m

I mean, obviously CBB8's ratings are a little less, but taking into account the channel change among other things I think the ratings so far have been decent.

Something I just found interesting....

26,800,000 people in England own a television.

That means nearly 10% of people in England are watching this series, and almost 20% of the people in England watched the launch. When you think about it, that's a large portion of the people.

2.37 million last night it seems to have settled at a level that C5 wont be unhappy at even if they aimed at a different audience but just found the same audience that are disgruntled at no live feed.
Hopefully they will realise that and cash in on a live feed online PPV which will boost their revenue.

BB pulled in an average audience of 2.5m (14%) between 10pm to 11pm on Channel 5.

The show was up 0.1m from the previous night’s highlights show and was the show’s highest rated broadcast since last Saturday (2.7m).

Channel 5 had a strong evening with Extraordinary People beforehand pulling in 1.8m, helping the broadcaster beat Channel 4 once again in the primetime shares. Channel 4, who axed Big Brother last year, averaged only 1.1m in the 10pm slot, less than half of Celebrity Big Brother’s audience. Celebrity Big Brother also beat ITV’s News at Ten (1.9m) and BBC2′s airing of Coast (0.6m).

Yesterday’s CBB rating was consistent with how the first Wednesday highlights show has performed in the last two summer series, as 2.6m tuned in for the first Wednesday episode for BB11 and 2.4m in BB10. Although yesterday’s audience was down from CBB7′s 3.2m for the same episode, yesterday’s 14% share was actually higher than CBB7′s 12% share.

From ds

Celebrity Big Brother grabbed 2.5m viewers on Wednesday night, while live football scored for ITV, the latest audience data has revealed.

Celebrity Big Brother averaged 2.52m (13.8%) for Channel 5 in the 10pm hour, as Jedward were split up in the latest house task.

The reality TV show has so far proved a ratings hit for Richard Desmond's Channel 5, delivering 5.1m viewers for its launch night and then staying above 2m for each subsequent nightly highlights programme.

Overall, BBC One just took primetime with 18.9% against ITV1's 18% (+1: 0.3%). Channel 5 came in a strong third with 7.2%, followed by BBC Two with 6.6% and Channel 4 with 5.4% (+1: 1%

Lets be honest BB is a hit for C5

Great to see it rising... and Channel 4 doing badly. I honestly can't believe they axed it to be honest. 2.5m every night for 12 weeks? Most channels would be more than happy with that.
