Rowan Atkinson Taken to Hospital After Car Accident

Rowan Atkinson has reportedly been involved in a car crash and has been taken to hospital.

According to the Evening Star, emergency services were called to the A605 at Haddon at 7.30pm, after the single vehicle collision involving Atkinson's McLaren F1 car.

The Blackadder star was then taken to Peterborough General Hospital, reportedly with a shoulder injury.

Atkinson had previously escaped a car accident with minor injuries in 1999, after colliding with the rear of a Rover Metro in his sportscar, and also emerged unhurt after crashing into a dustcart in 2009.

The 56-year-old also recently clocked up the fastest time recorded around the circuit of Top Gear's 'Star In A Reasonably Priced Car' segment.

Atkinson, 56, was driving the £650,000 car, which has a top speed of 230mph, when he lost control and spun it several times before smashing into a tree and then a lampost before the car reportedly caught fire.

The actor managed to pull himself from the wreckage and was being cared for by another motorist when emergency services arrived at the crash site on the A605, near Haddon, Cambridgeshire.

Actor Rowan Atkinson has been discharged from hospital after a road accident.

Atkinson left Peterborough City Hospital via a back door flanked by four security guards, but did not comment.

Security guards escorting the star, who was in a wheelchair, tussled with a cameraman as he left in a Harley Street private ambulance.
