I decided to keep the list short as I think some may struggle.
What's your top 3 black & white movies?
1. Psycho
2. Whatever happened to Baby Jane
3. Beauty and the Beast (La belle et la bette. 1946 French film...so enchanting and magical)

Casablanca, A Streetcar Named Desire and Dr. Strangelove, off the top of my head.
To Kill a Mockingbird - Gregory Peck
The Yearling - Gregory Peck (cried more than any movie since)
Roman Holiday - Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn:love:
also:
It's a Wonderful Life - James Stewart
Moby Dick - Gregory Peck
and all Cary Grant, Bette Davis and Spencer Tracy/Katherine Hepburn (magical couple) movies

I developed a sort of crush after watching a film of Bette Davis about 5 years ago, since then I have tried to see and get as many of her films as possible.
I think she was a brilliant actress,so really any 3 of hers.
The 3 I really like are Jezebel
A stolen life
Dark Victory.
(Whatever happened to Baby Jane is a great film too likely made even more real because of the genuine hostility between her and Joan Crafword in real life).
However, in my opinion she was and had to be one of the very best actresses,if not the best ever. I really love all her films.

we should only count movies from the b&w era. Movies that were done in b&w just for artistic value later shouldn't count IMHO.
1. The Wizard of Oz (it was filmed in b&w)
2. Gone With The Wind
3. Casablanca
Is Gone with the Wind not in colour?

eek, I think yu may be right. For some reason i remember it being in black and white, but after googling it, it seems not. How peculiar.

I remember seeing The Elephant Man in school, that was a good one. That movie definitely affected me at a young age. Such a good lesson in what it feels like to be a minority.

Yup, he was amazing. Also the make-up prostetics for the time was outstanding. Great film.

Indeed, I watched it again a couple of years ago and was still convinced by it, which is surprising considering how advanced special effects are these days. Maybe, it's partly due to Hurt's performance which is mesmerising as ihe was as Quentin Crisp:hugesmile:
