They finished the end of the series a couple of weeks ago, but instead of showing it over from Ep 1 again jumped to The One After Vegas (season six). I assumed they were then going to show the reason of the series til the end.

Just been looking at the digiguide channel grid........Guess what there listings only go upto July 29th.

If you click grid on the listings and goto july 30th its says no listings available so how do we know that when listings are added for july 30 it will not include more friends. Bit premature opening this thread do you not think

Well thanks for the welcome however I have had I good look at your link and that only takes information on a particular shows which is in the listings grid.

If you goto the listings grid here http://digiguide.tv/list/E4/30+July+2011/

You will see from july 30 digiguide has no listings for e4 apart from 1 program at 5.30am Then if you goto the next day there is no listings at all.

So what I was saying it is very possible that when listings are added there could be more friends episodes listed we are not exactly going to know till they add listings.

Lucky for me I don't relay on the freeview EPG

I have access to other platforms with 14 day EPG on some of the boxes which also confirm the same thing, so 5 different STB on different platforms are seriously unlikely to be not wright.

So on this occasion my post above is 100% correct.

Yes it is although freeview has sometimes been wrong the other boxes have always been 100% correct 100% of the time. I know for a fact friends is still on e4 past july 29th.

Good. Its about time. Friends is very stale now. Channel 4 showed it way way too much. Just can't believe comedy central picked up the uk rights for friends after channel 4 finishes showing it but they have.

Its very good news that we get rid of this very stale show off free telly that has been repeated over and over again.

E4 will attempt to be “creative and competitive” at 8pm by playing films, US comedies and UK-originated comedy when it loses Friends in September.

The licence for the American sitcom expires on 30 September, opening a huge gap of 1,043 hours annually in the channel’s schedule.

E4 channel manager Paul Mortimer explained: “The most obvious difference without Friends will be at 8pm, where we will be doing different things on different nights. It is a sign of E4’s maturity that we are able to be a bit more creative and competitive.”

He added: “We can play movies from 8pm to 10pm because some of our titles are 12 certificates and feel a bit young for 9pm, and we can also ramp up our US comedies.” US acquisition Happy Endings is due to start on E4 in September.

Existing programmes, such as The Big Bang Theory, which E4 has on an exclusive life-of-series basis, “will be working a lot harder” to anchor two nights of comedy on the channel, starting at 8pm. The Inbetweeners will also feature in the line-up.

Beyond comedy, E4 will continue to invest in non-scripted content such as Made In Chelsea, which is coming back in September for an extended 10-part run featuring Sir Philip Green’s daughter Chloe Green, and Tool Academy.

Ten brand new series are lined up for E4, most of which are due to start this year, Mortimer said. The programmes will include “lighter, pre-watershed formats, such as a dating show”, and a new series of PhoneShop, The Midnight Beast and Chris Addison’s Show And Tell.

Mortimer added: “Broadly speaking, Friends has played in the 5pm and 8pm slots for years. All that money coming back in [from not renewing the licence] means that there is a degree of richness and a bit more ambition, and we are rapidly developing ideas.

Comedy Central will strip the entire series of Friends from its first episode as it “takes ownership” of the show following its departure from Channel 4.

The US sitcom will play a key part in the multichannel broadcaster’s schedule from early October as it consecutively airs every episode from the ten seasons in primetime before showing daytime repeats.

The exact peak TX time is being kept a closely guarded secret as Comedy Central bids to steal a march on its rivals.

Comedy Central staff have also selected their favourite 50 episodes which will also be broadcast in October to help “cement” the show’s new location to viewers. A marketing campaign is also being prepared.

Chris Collie, Comedy Central’s director of programming and planning, said the show would be used to drive an inherited audience to the channel’s autumn slate including its first scripted comedy, Big Talk Productions’ Threesome.

“The ambition is to attract new viewers and migrate fans of the show from E4 to Comedy Central,” said Collie. “Friends is one of the most popular sitcoms and will be a key part of our schedule.”

Collie added that repeats remained popular with existing fans while the show continued to gain a new audience.

To make way for Friends Collie plans to reduce the volume of series including Raymond and King of Queens.
