Just wondering... should C5 have a dig back at C4 just before Big Brother?!

Something like...

"Here at channel 5, we dont let good things go to waste." :nono:

or

"Anything you can do, we can do better."

or

"Take not Channel 4, this is how it should be done." :xyxwave:

WHAT YA THINK?!

More importantly- should people on TiBB even be taking this faux C4/C5 rivalry seriously?

It is serious lol

Check the thread.

Even Marcus Bentley commented how petty it was.

They really are digging at C5

Yes as C4 canceled Big Brother despite it being there most watched show by a mile, and then when C5 picked Big Brother up C4 act all bitter.

My answer to the bitter bastards that is C4 is.....

1. Dont cancel your most watched show then if you didnt want C5 to pick it up.

2. Dont give an ultimatum to Marcus Bentley either, because if he still wants to work on Big Brother then he should be still allowed to work on Big Brother with no questions off C4.

Im grateful for C4 for actually making a quality TV show in Big Brother, but they shouldnt have canceled it when it was there most watched show on the channel and then act all bitter when another channel picks it up,its weird logic to me.

This. So bitchy and brilliant at the same time.
Although I don't believe they should retaliate. It's childish.

How do you know they're bitter? Have you some sort of new fangled bitter gauge that relays with scientific accuracy a networks bitterness? I don't begrudge Channel 4 for taking a dig at a rival network trying to get their old flame off the floor again. It's what television stations do.

Big Brother and it's spin offs took plenty of digs at other Reality TV and talent shows during it's time on Channel 4. Of course it wasn't bitter then that it was getting it's arse kicked in the ratings. Because our precious show was doing it it was hillarious, witty and downright enamouring.

If you can't see the logic in television networks taking some sort of competetive stance against a big show launch on another network then I'd avoid any job prospects in the TV industry.

Well why threaten Marcus Bentley with an ultimatum if there not bitter?

And Big Brother is the biggest reality tv show as its done the most seasons out of all of the reality shows, its the only reality tv show to have both a successful normal and celeb series, also when Big Brother was slagging the reality tv shows off they wasnt giving any ultimatums to anybody so the comparison is a bit ridiculous IMO.

Because Marcus Bentley was one of the voices of not just Big Brother but Channel 4. He was a prominent continuity announcer for the channel. He's not a cheese sandwich. You can't trade him to your mate in exchange for a ride off his bike.

Why would you let your continuity announcer twaddle off to another channel to do their biggest show? His Channel 4 contract probably didn't even allow for it which is why it had to be broke. It's business.

They are clearly bitter are Channel 4 becausue they thought BB couldn't go anywhere else or that no one else would take it on.

They got a shock when the negotiations then became successful on what was always seen as a long shot for Channel 5 to get it anyway.

Now Channel 4, just looking at okay but rather failing ratings recently, maybe are regretting that decision, they also know to be seen as a great success on Channel 5, BB will only need to get around what the last series got on Channel 4 and even that happening will be a psychological negative for Channel 4 seeing that.

No wonder they (Channel 4) are bitter and looking rather daft now actually.

Yeah silly Channel 4 with their riddiculous on air dig that twelve people paid attention to.

It was always incredibly likely Channel 5 would try and pick it up.

But all in all I think channel 5 should take the high road and ignore it.

I actually sat through that tedious drivvle last night. If I had been a sulky, self-harming twelve year old girl with a death fixation I'd probably have thought it was brilliant. Simply by showing it when they did I think Channel 4 have made it clear they're a little bit desperate to prove they don't need Big Brother.
