Leona Lewis has been accused of plagiarising a song by a Ministry of Sound artist for her new single 'Collide'.

The track, which was unveiled today, is said to have ripped off the song 'Penguin' by Avicii - an up-and-coming Swedish DJ better known under his UK guise Tim Berg.

The song's production is instead credited to Sandy Vee, who is best known for working on Rihanna's 'Only Girl (in the World)', David Guetta's 'Where Them Girls At' and Alexis Jordan's 'Good Girl'.

"Ministry of Sound signed Avicii a year ago and have been working on vocal ideas for over six months on the track," a source close to Ministry of Sound said.

"Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Scott Mills have been playing 'Penguin' for months now, but this week we've realised Simon Cowell and Leona Lewis have stolen our record. 'Collide' is identical to Avicii's track!"

Avicii, who is signed to the independent Ministry of Sound label alongside the likes of Example, Wretch 32 and Yasmin, is best known for his club hit 'Seek Bromance', which entered the top 20 last year.

Lewis recently said that she was excited for people to see a different side to her music, adding: "For me this song has all the great ingredients of a summer anthem."

Even back at her peak she would be no match for Adele's current success. But I can't see her even getting back up there tbh. There's way too much competition in the female artist division of music. Leona is nowhere near as big as Mariah or Aguilera and even they struggled with new albums.

Really she needed a big POW POW single to blast herself back with. This is good but doesnt demand attention.

It's called Till the World Ends and I completely agree. The chorus sounds so similar to TTWE. The sad thing is the JLS song will likely get to #1 and perform much better than TTWE, which is superior. British music scene is so fickle.

Leona Lewis and Simon Cowell's record label Syco will fight off a High Court challenge over the release of her new single 'Collide', it has been revealed.

The singer and her team have been taken to court by Swedish DJ Avicii over claims that the instrumental of her new track plagiarises his own song 'Fade into Darkness'.

The Guardian reports that the High Court will hear a plea from the dance producer on Monday for an injunction against the release of Lewis's song, which is due out on September 4.

Avicii - real name Tim Bergling - recorded 'Fade into Darkness' last October before being signed to independent label Ministry of Sound. Bergling alleges that his team denied Syco use of the instrumental as he was searching for a female vocalist to sing on the track before officially releasing it himself.

He further claims that 'Collide', which was unveiled last month, is a "straight re-recording" of his song, while a spokesman for Ministry of Sound added: "Avicii is an up-and-coming talent; we think he should be given a fair crack at making this record the hit it deserves to be."

Syco and its parent label Sony have refused to comment on the issue.

Lewis recently took to Twitter to defend her new single against claims of plagiarism.

Simon Cowell new gameshow has been hyped and promoted for weeks now, it's going to get big ratings. XF live shows are not on so this is the best type of promo you can ask for.

Pixie Lott and The Saturdays will both make top 10 but Leona will probably get the number one, she still has a big XF fanbase.
