Could we set it up that guests are only allowed view the first page of a thread or maybe that there only allowed view 5 threads a day!

Doubt that would work, put people off if anything.

That's not the problem the problem is not having anything to talk about like we did when we were able to watch live feed.. DS is not as active as it usually is when Big Brother is on either

Why is it necessary to make it more 'active'? If there was stuff to talk about, people would be talking.

I think forums that don't allow guests to read threads definitely encourage people to sign up...

I don't think it'll work, people will just sign up to view the thread they want then never come back.

I agree with this, having no live feed is the main reason the forum is so quiet, plus I think limiting what guests can read per day is off-putting.

If you had to sign up just to view threads, we would have more members, but mostly with 0 posts.

People would just sign up to nosey. Doesn't solve anything. Nothing to make them post

doesn't necessarily encourage them to post though

If people want more people to post, more people to sign up, then it's pretty simple - be active yourselves, makes some interesting threads and be friendly

I agree with this but I find it strange that people are coming on this thread and spying on our posts!

yeah.. that's actually a good comment. I must admit, I don't make a lot of threads but I am welcoming to newcomers. I see quite a lot of uncalled for hostility towards new members at times, and all they're going to do is bugger off to another forum, slag Tibb off and put others off too.

Kerry, you always make lots of chatted threads.. get making some! :D

'15 minute guest time' each day or something might work.

If old members were less rude to new ones.

I remember in my early days here I was so close to making a thread saying "****** you lot, you're all *******s".

Yeah new members making a thread and getting nothing but suspicious smileys and accusations of being a banned member in reply isn't very welcoming.

It will be better for the site to be honest to move away from BB, X Factor anyone? :)

Some of the guests could be members who CBA signing in.

I dont store passwords on my computer so I dont use the automatic sign in.

However I do browse the threads everyday and will log in to post.

Limiting what guests can see on the forums will only reduce the amount of guest visits. You may get the more curious signing up to view threads doesnt mean they will become members who post. The complaint then will be all these members and none of them post.

If BB was good and members didn't scare away so many newbies we'd be okay.

A 'Happy Hour' with triple points on post counts for quieter times would be good:hugesmile:

What about having more fun and random awards, rather than just the awards for chat and games or post counts etc. Kate made a thread the other day about guessing the member which was genius and it kept us all busy for most of the day, which made me think about an award for the 'fastest growing thread' outside of BB. More awards may mean more posts which would make a more active forum to generate new members. I don't know, just a thought.......

Forum games are a good one to keep the site active during off-season. The site will get busier during BB12 I reckon, plus you have x factor back on too.
