IMOGEN Thomas ended up left on the bench when she tried to get her *football player-hungry claws into ex-Chelsea star Michael Ballack.

Imogen Thomas, 28, set her sights on the German midfielder after spotting him partying at London’s Whisky Mist.

But unlike her last conquest Ryan Giggs, 37, *the happily-married ace wasted no time in *letting her know she wasn’t going to get on the pitch.

A source at the exclusive Mayfair club told us: “As soon as Imogen spotted Michael at the bar, she made a beeline for him.

“She wasn’t even trying to hide what she was *doing. She was eyeing him up and was desperately trying to get herself within touching distance of him so she could start a conversation.”

Michael, 34, who is now back playing on his home turf for Bayer Leverkusen, was revisiting a few of his old London hangouts.

After dinner with a mate at top restaurant Zuma, he headed to the celebrity haunt.

Our source continued: “Michael spied her *advances straight away. Not only is he happily married, but he obviously knows her track record with *footballers.

“She was pretty persistent though. A note she sent got intercepted. Then she kept asking other people to tell him she desperately needed to talk to him.”

Her infamous affair with Manchester United ace Giggs isn’t the only time the minx has been involved with a footballer.

Imogen had a four-month fling with Jermain *Defoe, 28, back in 2009, and has been linked to several *others, *including * Cris*tiano *Ronaldo, 26, and Dwight Yorke, 39.

Our insider revealed: “Michael eventually sent a message to her telling her in no uncertain terms she was wasting her time.”
