Lee..... try Alpha rooms. They have fab offers for couples/family for next year. Check under Alphie's deals of the day (todays are rubbish..but check daily: there were 4* hols in Turkey for May 2012 going for £250 etc yesterday; the deals vary every day......)
I'm close to booking one of them for next year ....

Going to Florida again soon, I love it there so much. :D Wish I could live there.
We've just come back from, a couple of weeks in Orlando. This visit was to do the new Harry Potter in Universal and it was bloody brilliant. I'm not a fan of HP and was unsure if I would 'get' the experience and I can tell you I got it. I got it that much I'm now interested in the whole HP story.
As much as we love Florida we couldn't live there. Two weeks and I'm done. The heat is too much and the food is limited, although we did notice a slight improvement this year. Plus after two weeks we crave normality.
We've booked America again next year but we're going up the west coast.

Much as I've loved previous visit to America: if you are doing the Orlando thing..... it's not a 'restful' holiday as there is so much to see, to do, and to cram in...... fab as it is though!

We have spoilt ourselves over the years so when we do the parks we know what we want and where we want to go.
Our first ever visit to the Magic Kingdom was in 95' and that day we started at 8am and left at midnight. Now when we visit we're done in around 6 hours so we go off and fit something different in.
Just had a look at that Pyr... I'm looking to book one of two hotels in particular and they came up with one if them, but they're still more expensive than directholidays.com. :(
Oh.. onthebeach always have good prices too.. :)

first time I went, it was (how embarrassing...... was for my 18th...I wanted to go to Disney World !!). In March. Spent a few days with plastic macs, weighed down by ballast as there were typhoon warnings at the time!!
Talk about lucky white heather!! LOL :joker:
Even planned, with military precision -I still think it's hard to find it restful....once you're there...... the kiddie inside comes out and refuses to go back in until you're on the flight home again!!

I don't think there's anything embarrassing at wanting to go there, it certainly brings out the child in you when you're there. :joker:
Don't they like to go on about the weather ? It doesn't matter what weather they have it's always panic stations. We we're caught in a hurricane a few years back, everything was shut down and the hotel lost it's power around 8pm leaving us to just go to bed. The following morning there were trees up-rooted and some had crushed some cars in the car park, we we're lucky our car wasn't near any trees.
Even when we cut it down to 6 or 7 hours it was still tiresome, the heat doesn't help. But Disney is one of those places where you just don't stop. Even in the water-parks you're constantly on the go.
As much as I love it, I'm always ready to come home after two weeks.

That is just so good of you Pyr.
Really looking forward to seeing you all lobster pink and peeling, with the factor 5000 dribbling off you.
By the way next weeks electrical storms In Central and Southern Rhodes will knock out all electrical and communication supplies.
Incidentally all the Greek Adonis types leave the more remote areas to work in the 18-30 areas.
So it looks like warm beers served by the Greek Versions of Homer and Moe off the Simpsons.
Oh and the pools being drained and retiled next week according to the complex's maintenance schedule.

Lobster pink and peeling is for amateurs. I do the golden brown look, thank you very much.
I've already booked my seat at the bar, next to the heater, and the watertight roof - so sorted out there.
End of season: the Greek Adonis types will be grateful for the more mature, intelligent woman - instead of the drunken 18-30 rabble vomitting up all over the place.
Homer and Moe have a brilliant sense of humour: I so hope you are right - it's gonna be a blast!
And the Greek Army have promised me a loan of their satellite comms - just so I can keep in touch.
Get it right up you.

I LOVE Tropical Rain Storms........ the charge in the air before: then thundering of the rain as it fall amid the warm temperature: and then the clear pure atmosphere afterwards.

Behave you are a light skinned porridge *** with red hair, you will burn burn burn

The Greek Adonis types will be still at the 18-30's winding down and phoning their seasonal conquests. Trying to get invites to the UK. They understand about the Greek economy going down the pan.
Yes but Greek Homer and Moe only speak Greek so it looks like they will be laughing at you not with you.

No joke: I visited Lipades about 20 years ago.... and that actually was the case. was out in the middle of nowhere and on a seriously steep hill.
We were rooked financially couldnt move hotel - ended up hiring a moped to escape (hotel still exists but is in the boonies) - old couple there in their 70's..... we felt guilty at leaving them after breakfast in this hell hole so my boyfriend at the time used to take the old man on the back of the moped, up to Paleaokastria (sp), drop him off - come back for the old woman - then come back a 3rd time for me. Then he'd have to do it all in reverse to get us back to the hotel.
(This was the same guy with the big beastie on his back...... !!!)
I will have the Adonis men to keep me warm.
The Adonis types can arrange their UK holidays all they wish: means I don't need to worry about them stalking me when I leave.
Homer and Mo are okay to laugh at me - for I shall laugh back, and they shall think I am 'touched'. As the Greeks placed those in that category as special and chosen by God....I will be reveered .
I am packing my Marine Flags - so will never be stuck for communications. I have dipped them in glo in the dark stuff so they can be used in the dark.
now...what was the bad news - ....that you will be stuck in freezing cold Scotland with the rain chucking it down.

Its all types of food really because so many people come from abroad (25% of the population are immigrants). But 'local' food is like Malaysian/Chinese. But everywhere is pretty much really nice as food and health laws are so strict.

It's a good feeling, and it's great at the airport seeing all the expat kids mulling around - sneaky beers etc. even better on the plane ride back home - when you can get legless without having to walk into the arms of the parents.

You'll be a wee fat barrell on the way back home...... how much is the excess baggage per kilo? !!! ;)
Making me so excited :amazed: Only 1 month. and don't worry Pyra I'm a gold card member I can get lots of free excess baggage ;)

Dont worry about clothes and the like in your bags, just wear them all as you check in.
Maybe this post could be edited slightly and posted again in the usless info/top tips thread eh?

I went to London for two days in July because I was seeing Janet Jackson, that is about it.

Your tip is only applicable for Ryanair flights. Scheduled flights don't count.

I'm still sick (with sheer jealousy) at the pics you had of the Maldives.
It's the one place I want to visit, a few of the Islands. Absolutely breathtaking - reminds of me some of the Thai Islands.

Some of us prefer Ryanair, Brian D highly recommends it and if its good enough for Mr D its good enough for me.

They are truly amazing. I have been twice and the first time we went it was the april after the tsunami and one of the hotels islands had been destroyed (resort was 2 adjoining islands) and so we got moved onto the more 'secluded' 'authentic' island. No internet, no pool, no tv's and only limited electricity. Was pure bliss having 2 weeks totally secluded on a desert island. I would definitely advise saving up and if you go do not miss out on snorkelling or scuba diving. The reefs are AMAZING.

Cant do scuba am afraid due too health reasons. Snorkelling I'm a dab hand at. Used to be a fab coral reef in Jeddah - great fun. Damn you Charlie, I want to be 13 again and be back there with it all ahead of me again....... you don't know what you've got till it's not there anymore and all that.
Now surely you will hide your wee 'unaccompanied passenger' vest - you need to get that to hell ...... ;)

Are you? wow thats great to hear, Rhodes is great this time of year, not too hot but still very warm, probably the best time to go really. I hope you have a great time there and come back all refreshed and relaxed, fit for purpose.
It would be great maybe if you took a laptop or arranged some internet access while you are out there and posted some pictures and howgoesit's for us all on the forum. I am sure everybody freezing their cobs off back here in blighty would really appreciate that.
Rhodes has some great places of interest to visit not only scenic vistas but also historic and cultural attarctions too, The local foods are fantastic examples of mediterranean cuisine, not only highly tasty but also nutritious and healthy.
I am sure you really will have a brilliant time. Well at least I hope you do.

Is that because of the hump on your back?

It was you who brought your husband into the thread not I.
According to yourself it was you who got rid of him, was it not?
Why would you take offence at me mentioning the fact you choose to hide behind your attack on men in general, a typical female tactic to gain the solidarity of all other females who have a bit of emotional baggage over the male of species?
Its a shame you failed to remember that you choose to date him, you went into a relationship with him, you decide to agree to marry him and you went through a marriage ceremony. Who is to blame for your baggage? Certainly not me!
So please dont try to displace your guilt and whatever other emotional problems you have with the male of the species onto me.

Humour bypass!!!
He's not under the patio slabs .... (least I don't think so!!).
it was an arranged marriage, I will have you know. I was dragged squealing up the aisle, like a banshee I was.
It was in all the local newspapers, remind me to send you the clippings. In fact, I'm pretty sure that had something to do with the sudden appearance of 48 camels in my father's back garden. He never did tell me where they had come from and I never quite got to the bottom of it.

We only have your word on that though Pyr. And it fails big style on a few details.
I am sorry but normally they gag the bride if she starts wailing.
No woman is worth 48 camels regardless of who she is. 24 you might have got away with but 48, no chance.
Admit it, it all a tissue of lies.
And while you are about it, is he under the patio slabs?
