Only 'breaking' on BBC atm hence the short article:

A man thought to be a Wales fan has died following an incident before the match against England at Wembley.

The man, aged 44, was taken to hospital with head injuries after suffering cardiac arrest outside the stadium.

He died in hospital shortly before 21:00 BST.

Six people, all thought to be Wales supporters, were arrested and police do not believe any England fans were involved. The Met's Homicide and Serious Crime Command is investigating.

Emergency services were called to an area outside the sporting venue at about 19:20 BST, following reports of an assault shortly before kick-off.

A London Ambulance Service (LAS) spokesman said: "I can confirm that LAS got a call at 7.20pm to reports of an assault outside Wembley Stadium.

"Staff treated a 44-year-old man who had suffered a cardiac arrest. Extensive efforts were made to resuscitate the patient and he was taken to hospital."

Staff on standby at the international match were on the scene within three minutes, the spokesman said.

The victim was taken to a north London hospital in an ambulance belonging to a private medical contractor employed by Wembley.

A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

Police believe they have identified the victim but await formal confirmation that all his next of kin have been informed.

England won the European Championship qualifying match 1-0.

Very sad news, the article's been updated now saying all those who have been arrested are Wales supporters and it doesnt look like any English fans were involved

Seems to be Swansea fans who did it. The bloke who died was a Cardiff fan and six Welshmen have been arrested. Seems logical (At least, as logical as it can get)

There is no place for violence in football. RIP.

Just awful and could have easily been prevented if some disgusting people didn't take their rivalry so far.

Yeah, because one incident before a match by mindless thugs makes football as a whole vile.

RIP

It is always the Welsh fans doing something, don't know why they can't just come together for their International games like every other country does.

If this was only outside the stadium then it'll all be on camera and sorted out, anyway.

Football is ******ing vile.

First you start wearing make up then and then you say that football is vile either you are starting to bat for the other team or you are 0.1% of straight men that don't like football and wear make up.

Now i suggest you stop being silly and get yourself a season ticket to Sligo Rovers or somewhere like that.

Looks like inter-club rivalry wasn't to blame so it doesn't seem to be football related
