When I was a kid there used to be two different types of stinging nettles that where around areas I played (not saying you are a 'kid').
The big very jaggy pointy one which gave you a 'needle' type sting only - with no real after effect
http://th00.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2011/124/5/d/jaggy_nettles_by_bassiks-d3fjqwy.jpg
then you got and the secret sly ones like below - that don't look as bad, but still like hell for hours and hours later....
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRJlIp3CWh7ENWyIZYHjaDwM4LbpFPCj 66P37_j17pqMUYzapmvsg
the answer is to get a dock leaf and rub it..... it help alleviate the sting as it contains antihistimines.

Anthisan insect bite cream is also good, as is Eurax.
If you havent got either around the home, when you next go wee wee pee on the nettle rash, it will stop the stinging and reduce any sweeling etc. (Old army trick ;) )

PSML.... that Rebeckah has got your mind right in the gutter again, it surfaced briefly but nope, you're right in there again!! Dirty man.
I know that trick too, but funny enough: wee lassies aren't in the habit of pulling down their pants to pee on their hands.... boys are better designed for that sort of discreet behaviour!!
Peeing on jelly fish stings is recommended as an emergency first aid thing to.

I remember in Summer I was with a girl at like 1AM in a forest - it was actually the day before CBB8's Launch  and we were sitting on a wall like making out, and she forced me to like lie back and I ended up lieing in a ******ing patch of nettles and couldn't even scream with pain because I'd look like a ******ing bellend.
I agree about the docking leaf, used to use them all the time for jaggy nettle stings when we were younger.
Calamine lotion might stop it irritating too.

Both of these work actually.
But the second option is horrible.
I remember using docking leafs
This thread instantly made me think of The Rubberbandits.

What's wrong. Afraid to be truthful? Thought American was the land of the free and all that.......
After all, isn't that what the Constitution was all about: round about Article 4, Section 1, Amendment 13......;)

We used to play a game when we were little in the Summer, put shorts on and run into the nettles... last one to get out is the winner. 1st one out gets thrown in the lake! :P

I can't speak of 'yu brits' but I'm quite happy to confirm that I'm neither a racist or a bigot - no need for subltely on that subject.
Subtley is one thing. Hypocrisy is another thing altogether.
I find it incredibly amusing that you state often on here how great Amercia is: so great that you know so little about it...... even to the down to flora that this thread was discussing, never mind your disregards for the very thing that most Americans are so proud of: The Constitution and the very fundamentals that it stands for.
Based on that: I'm far prefer to fall into a patch of stinging nettles, least I know what to expect.

Anyone remember itchykoos........ I've got them growing in my garden and I'm always tempted when my friends are around, to slip one down the back of their shirts/top ... (we never grow up really!!)

wow dude, yu have me pegged all wrong if that's what you think. I don't post about how great America is, i just defend America when i notice someone attacking her around here. I've never gone out of my way to glorify America. I just give my experience as an actual American when it's relevant.

I've got the cut of your gib. No need for you to try to explain. No need at all.
