The long-awaited HD remake of Final Fantasy X will include a copy of sequel Final Fantasy X-2 on the disc on PlayStation 3. On Vita, the two games will be sold separately.

According to a report from Gematsu (via Eurogamer), the news was confirmed in Japanese magazine Shonen Jump, and Final Fantasy X HD is due in 2013. Both X and X-2 will be bundled with content originally included in the international edition of each game.

Final Fantasy X HD was announced at TGS in 2011 but wasn’t seen for over a year. Recently, footage of HD character models was revealed during Sony’s Vita Heaven event.

It's unclear if X-2 will be mastered in HD as well, but we've reached out to Square Enix for comment and will update with any comment we receive.

EU Release CONFIRMED!

I'm delighted to announce that FINAL FANTASY X and FINAL FANTASY X-2 will both be getting the high definition treatment - being released in Europe this year!

For those of you who love to lounge around at home with your PlayStation 3 and a big telly, you’ll get both FINAL FANTASY X and X-2 bundled together on one disc, called FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster. If however you find yourself always on the go, trying to sneak in a quick gaming session during your lunch break, then FINAL FANTASY X HD Remaster and FINAL FANTASY X-2 HD Remaster will be available separately for PS VITA.

Final Fantasy fans will be excited to know that they’re not just getting a mind-blowingly beautifully HD version of the game they love, oh no! Both games are based on the International version, which is the most complete, feature-heavy iteration of each game to release. The International version of FINAL FANTASY X-2 never made it to European shores before, so there’s quite a chunk of additional content for you to dive into!

he International version of FINAL FANTASY X introduces an Expert version of the Sphere Grid in which all the characters start in the middle and you can choose any path… but there are fewer nodes and therefore a decrease in the number of upgrades available – challenging indeed! This edition also includes new abilities, new superbosses (Dark Aeons and Penance), and more.

FINAL FANTASY X-2 is also getting the International treatment, high definition graphics and more content than I can list! But you’ll have to wait a little bit longer until we reveal the full list of enhancements and extra features.

You can see why it's taken so long for them to bring it out, it's more then just a touch up. I'm quite interested to see the CGI scenes now as well as how X2 looks. I'm guessing now that the characters have expressive faces in all the scenes, Square might have had to do some more animation work.

I kind of want to see what the other characters like Donna and Isaaru look like now that they'll have proper faces.

The 30-minute end credit episode that was leaked by Jump magazine was also confirmed for the west – a new story by scenario writer Kazushige Nojima. Since Final Fantasy X-2 was confirmed to be included in the HD Remaster, many have wondered if the Japan exclusive "Last Mission" would included in the game. Today, thanks to some menu screenshots of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster we finally got confirmation that "Last Mission" will be included in the HD Remaster.

They're a lot of fun if you like old school RPGs, X-2 has more of a campy feel than X, but it's still a lot of fun, with dozens of side quests. The HD editions include a bunch of stuff that was left out of the original US release, including new bosses, mechanics and a whole new mini/side-game set after X-2.

Yeah the story isn't as long as I remember, then again I think I'm underestimating how long it takes to get through Gagazet, if I remember right that's quite a long part.

I'm looking forward to playing X-2 though, we've always had the international version of X so the Dark Aeons and such aren't new to us but the international version of X-2 was never released outside of Japan and it's apparently got a **** ton of new features.

I've just beaten Seymour at Mt Gagazet. I annihilated him with Holy since I managed to get it early using Rikku's Sphere Grid and a White Magic Sphere to teach it to Yuna. I've built up my compatibility wih Yojimbo to a point where he uses Zanmato if he gets hit, I should waltz through the Dark Aeons with him.

Tidus's weapon and Sigil and crest were easier to get then I remember, did the Chocobo Catcher in 0 seconds after only about 20 tries, got luck with the lay out though

Tidus has broke the HP limit now, just maxing out his sphere grid using the don Tonberry trick at the minute, went back to the Omega ruins before and beat Omega with him alone, the Dark Aeons still to come though :(

She was the most powerful character in my game too, I ended up obliterating the last dungeon with her as her Flares were dealing 30k damage and she could doublecast them.

I'd be tempted - I'm one of the world's few people who actually really enjoyed FFX-2... there's was actually quite a dark and engaging story underneath all of the pop cheese, you just had to wait a while :joker:.

However... I don't even have time to get through the backlog of games I already have... adding another two that I've already played to death 10 years ago would probably be a mistake!

I just bought it, Working on the first game first, I like the story so far.

Yuna's voice actor however :laugh: tell me they recasted her for X-2.

She had the job of syncing her voice to the characters in X, which made her performance a little stilted. In X-2 they actually animated it for English too, so she sounds a lot better. :p
