Anyone else go jogging/running now and again? Have made it my goal to go twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. It's so good for waking you up at 6 in the morning and also great at 10:30 at night to get you tired and ready for a sleep! I use this website to plan my routes - http://www.walkjogrun.net/ - It's really good as you can draw out your routes, see the distance of them, and how many calories you will lose by going on them. It also shows all of the hills and dips and other routes that people have plotted in your area. You can save as many routes as you want so I've done quite a few to choose from depending on my mood that day. As I've been doing it, I've noticed my stamina levels boost significantly, I'm no longer out of breath after just running a few yards down the road and you start to find a good rhythm with your legs that feels comfortable for you.

I've found it's best not to over-do it. On my first run I thought I was invincible and thought that the pain was a good thing, but it was 6 in the morning, I had not eaten or had anything to drink and pushed myself way past my limits seeing as I hadn't bee running long and went home and was very sick and nauseas that morning. Just make sure you aren't pushing yourself to the max unless you know that you're physically capable of it.

I've never been sporty really, but I've really come to love jogging over the past week or so and it's great to set time goals and pick different routes and I'm feeling like a brand new person after just a few days. If you're not doing it then give it a go! It's free and really good for you!

I just did the route I do most nights and apparently it burns 197.2 calories, not bad.

Great application :amazed:

Even in Florida, nobody who heads out for an evening jog in a suburban neighbourhood expects to be attacked and killed by an alligator. But that is what happened to Yovy Suarez Jimenez, a 28-year-old biology student, who took one fatal step too close to a canal.

Sunrise, a dormitory community north of Fort Lauderdale, was in shock yesterday as the medical examiner confirmed that Ms Jimenez was grabbed and dismembered by an alligator. Joshua Pepper told reporters that Ms Jimenez had been attacked by an alligator measuring as much as 10 feet in length.

"The alligator attacked her and basically amputated her arms, bit her on the leg and back and pulled her into the water. She died extremely fast. By the time she was pulled into the water, she was already dead." No eyewitnesses have come forward, although one woman said she thought she saw Ms Jimenez dangling her feet in the water.

Her body was found by building workers the morning after she headed out for her jog on Tuesday evening.

Relatives became concerned after she failed to return home to the mobile-home park where they lived. Ms Jimenez's mother said she spoke to her by mobile phone while she was out. She said she was sitting under a bridge and feeling depressed. That was the last anybody heard from her.

I don't think anyone in Britain is going to jog past a river with an alligator, Omah.

Ah, but :

A jogger who was listening to music on headphones when she was knocked down and killed by a speeding driver was unable to hear warning shouts, a court heard.

Fashion intern Elizabeth Beach-MacGeagh was unable to hear cries from onlookers just before she was hit and catapulted into the air.

The 20-year-old, who was studying history at Bristol University, was taken to hospital where she died despite an emergency operation.

The driver, 26-year-old Aryeris Angelis, sped off without stopping and attempted to repair his car to cover up his crime, a jury was told.

He is said to have been travelling at 45mph in a 30mph zone.
Witness John Soer said Miss Beach-MacGeagh’s ‘body looked like it broke’ after Angelis’s BMW hit her in Barnet, North-West London, last June.

I would love to go jogging but the pain in my shins is too much. At the moment i am left with walking although i have had a few weeks out from doing that as well due to pain in my knees.

Hoping to start again next Monday. My Asics are wasted on walking to the shop.
