View Full Version : Big Brother USA needs to sort of go back to the bb2/bb3/bb4 way of doing things

Back then big brother was cool and nice. He gave the housemates rewards via America's vote or food competitons that were selected via America's vote.
Back in BB2 and BB3 it still felt like a social expirement as I think in the first week big brother gave the housemates a camera to record stuff in the big brother house. I think big brother gave them a half basketball court, a trampoline for Will, and they did in fact have a housepet for a while (a pot bellied pig that belonged to one of the housemates). Also the comps were creative and NOT RIGGED and in editing there wasn't music in every clip.

Man i miss Arnold Sharpiro (BB2-BB7 head executive producer)

They just need to fire Grodner's ass.

The show was so much better with Sharpiro in charge.

Completely agree. I just rewatched BB3 episodes 1 and 2 and it felt like Big Brother. The houseguests were getting ready in the morning, talking in the backyard, etc. Not just saying "funny" things in the DR or talking strategy 24/7 while annoying music plays in the background. And it would be awesome if we had another hated winner like Jun or Maggie.. but that won't happen.

I disagree. Things are going swimmingly, CBS is happy, Endemol is happy, based on the ratings the fans are happy. Why would they change anything? They'd be crazy to make any major changes.

The only thing i'd like to see change is the house, they need a new house, it seems like forever since they renovated it completely. I'd like to see a new house layout.

We might get one but it won't happen BB is too much of a cash cow for CBS but if they do revamp the layout they must also put in HD cameras :D

ok what would you change?

1. Big crowd like BBUK that can boo or cheer
2. No music over the highlights
3. Better highlights covering actual life in the house, not just strategy.
4. Longer eviction episodes or four episodes a week. Or maybe a Saturday episode with bonus footage and past houseguests + most recently evicted houseguest
5. More diverse casts

It would be delicious.

Not too bad
1. Even if you add a big crowd they won't boo in America unless they're pissed off about a result
2. could actually happen
3. yes
4. I would rather see a BBLB like show on Shotime but i agree with the rest of the stuff

That's a good idea. I think on the Superpass website they have some form of little brother, don't they? I've never watched it so I don't know if it's anything like BBLB UK.

I found BB2-6 much more interesting and endearing series's (Is that a word? series's?). I didn't find it too bad in BB8 but recent series's editing is so candy coated.

ANd the comps were creative

For example
There's that competition on AS where the whole house was woken up every 15 minutes and they had a veto competition where they had to guess a popular bb phrase backwards in the middle of the night where houseguests could give items to other houseguests that were designed to give disadvantages (IE Headphones with loud noises, worms crawling all over your feet)

i don't remember some of the early ones but BB7 (The Last Shapiro Season) had some brilliant comps (IE Woke up the house every 15 minutes with loud phone calls and then in the middle of the night had the POV comp which required staying awake and the comp where former hgs looked like ghosts via the camera runs. Allison scared the crap out of Janelle :joker:)

I don't mean racial diversity, I mean diversity in general. The last couple years people have been way too similar and boring.

eh I'm not sure.

just noticed i said the same comp twice XD

one of my other favorites was such a simple but entertaining endurance comp during bb6 that lasted to 9AM the next morning. 9 housemates were locked inside a glass like structure, each had a button that they had to hold down, in the middle off the room was 7 boxes 2 would add something to the comp, the other 5 were prizes, and they could only be let out 3 at a time. Favorite part was when Beau was the first out he won a minibar, and there was actually alcohol in the prize so he constantly drank in the box, and when Janelle quit she joined in, they were both competely drunk when they got out of the box. :joker:

that was also the week Kaysar returned to the house
He finished second cause he trusted Jennifer and after those grueling 16 hours at the end of the week he got evicted...again

it would be fun to see how that season would've turned out if bbusa was still like the international rules
(my predictions would've been Janelle the winner,Kaysar 2nd, Beau 3rd, Howie 4th)

They almost did twice

1. Micheal and Eric were going after each other, when Eric's family got involved it got heated and BB knew it was about to blow up so he interviened.
Then later that night Ivette and Kaysar got into a fight 15 minutes after and bb just told everyone to go to different rooms, everyone was given a warning about violence.

2. Week 4 Janelle was really drunk and started calling Maggie/Ivette mean things. A Drunk Beau got involved and they were having a fight Janelle yelled at Beau "You date older men" and Beau yelled "Polyester Haired Bitch" then they called each other *****s and then the claws came out. I think Kaysar and James broke it up

It was a legendary season or did you watch that season

I liked the earlier seasons the best because they presented the players as 3 dimensional human beings instead of caricatures that you are designed to feel a certain way about (the evil person, the good person). This season, I thought Jeff didn't deserve America's player because on the live feeds he came across as a self-entitled cantankerous old brute, trashing Shelly and Adam because they didn't pull their weight or Rachel because she drove him "banana pancakes" or calling Danielle an f-ing bitch because she was mad that he backdoored her. Honestly, I think Jessie from BB10 and 11 is a much nicer guy and has a bigger heart than Jeff.

Totally agree.

Jeff was only ever liked because his opposition in BB11 were controversial characters like Chima, Jessie, Natalie, Lydia, etc. Which was a shame considering that the "evil" side of the house was way more entertaining. Then in BB13, both Jeff AND Jordan were self righteous pricks the entire season, but got good edits because America loved them and had no interest in seeing their bad sides. I did want one of the Pajama Jammers to win, but I'm glad that at the very least, Jeff and Jordan both placed worse than they did on their original season, and the girl they couldn't stand all season long, Porsche, single handedly evicted Jordan and played a large role in evicting Jeff as well. :D

As for the topic of this thread, I wish they'd stop having America vote on such crucial things. I feel like that's BBUK's thing. BBUS is supposed to be a game of strategy, and how can it play out naturally when people can get ahead just by being nice and not having any strategy at all? In BB11, Jeff and Jordan sat on their asses doing nothing for four weeks and then were essentially handed the game.

I'm not against Jordan. I think she really is a sweet person and she often either wanted to or did stand up for Rachel which she deserves credit for. I'm more against Jeff. The only people who truly deserved America's favorite were Rachel and Jordan (the most fascinating alliance of the summer) and I voted for Rachel because I respect her competitiveness.

But it ruins the dynamic of the game. It's completely out of the HouseGuests' control and a majority of the voters only watch the extremely biased edited episodes and not the feeds. It's all an act of rigging. Before BB8 all the America's votes were for silly and fun things, especially in the earlier seasons. Then America's Player took it a step forward, but what really put the nail in the coffin was the Coup d'Etat in BB11. Never before has someone won such a game-changing power for not doing anything. Jeff didn't do anything to deserve the prize, he didn't win a Competition or solve a riddle. He was voted to have it, which is ridiculous that a vote would decide such a huge deal.
