Just been doing some surfing for Custom Content for The Sims 2, for my new Big Brother Series [dw mine aren't horrid like most on youtube]and I can't believe it.

The number of 'Mod Sites' that actually have put a 'Subscription Only' lock on 80% of the custom content!

I actually think that is such a piss take.

What sad bastard, in any state of mind - would PAY MONEY, ACTUAL MONEY to download ******ing hair or clothes or pretend little cars for The Sims?

Jesus.

I'm assuming The Sims isn't the only game with sites actually making people pay for something as simple as Custom Content.

I mean fair enough I'd understand if it was something BIG that would CHANGE THE GAME - but I mean, they want people to pay like 13 Quid to download a set of clothes for a Sim?

I seen a 'Vice City' Mod for The Sims 3 last night, like it was mind blowing and that was free!

Most of the people who buy these things don't pay for them, they just use their parents' credit card and don't even care. Once they grow up and understand the value of money, they won't waste money like that.

Isn't buying the stuff packs pretty much the same as this though?

Kind of but not really, well yeah in a sense it is  But at the end of the day in the stuff packs you're getting a whole bunch of themed items for about 20 Quid [I imagine it was dearer 5 Years ago, right?] where as on some of these sites - that would be the equivalent of like 5 Hair Styles and 2 Outfits or something.

There just Modders who have decided they don't want to Mod for free anymore i guess. It does take time and skill to create the content and you could see it as Self Employment.

Although Modding has always been about improving a game for yourself and others and is done for the love of the game, i think it's fair to see people that charge for it as sell outs.
