I'd love some kind of CO-OP mode now that Catwoman is a playable character as well i think it would work really well with the Combo system they have

First ''review'' in

Later this month the sequel to Guinness World Records "Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever," Arkham City, gets released. We had some time with it at Gamescom – and if you got to rAge this weekend, you probably got to play it a bit as well. We think it’s fantastic – but we have odd taste.

The game’s first review has entered the wild, so what does Australia’s Official PlayStation Magazine think?

"Batman: Arkham City is not only the best superhero game ever made, it’s one of the best games ever made full-stop," gushes the magazine, as spotted by ArkhamCity.co.uk "It takes the already superlative original and gloriously expands on it. It’s a deeper game, more complex, more inventive, more mature. It brings the caped crusader’s world to life better than any comic, movie or television show before it."

In closing, the magazine opines “We can’t imagine how a superhero game could be better than this. Absolutely sublime.”

It looks like Rocksteady Studios might be set to break its own Guinness World Record. Arkham City will be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 21. Unfortunately, the PC version’s release date has slipped to next month.

Official Playstation Magazine gives this a 10/10 rating:

"Batman: Arkham City is not only the best superhero game ever made, it's one of the best games ever made full-stop. It takes the already superlative original and gloriously expands on it. It's a deeper game, more complex, more inventive, more mature. It brings the caped crusader's world to life better than any comic, movie or television show before it."

"Presentation: Endlessly creative, perfectly moody, and technically flawless. This is Epic's Unreal engine pushed to its absolute limit."

"Sound: Alternatively foreboding and frantic, the game's orchestral soundtrack matches the on-sccreen action perfectly. Voice acting is brilliant."

"Controls: Complex and initially overwhelming but also logical and responsive. It'll take a while to get used to them, but once you do it feels perfectly natural flinging Batman around."

"Replay Value: Immense. A massive main quest, dozens of side missions, Riddler challenges, secondary game modes, and DLC will keep most people occupied for months."

"VERDICT: We can't imagine how a superhero game could be better than this. Absolutely sublime."

10/10

Further Batman video games have been promised by Arkham City developer Rocksteady Studios.

The company has said that despite the huge scale of the Batman: Arkham Asylum sequel, it still intends to keep producing games for the franchise.

"I mean I think as long as we're still enjoying it and as long as we feel we can contribute to the Batman universe, [we will continue]," Rocksteady's Dax Ginn told CVG. "That's how it feels.

"There's some amazing stuff going on with Batman all around the world at the moment and we feel as though we're making our own little contribution in the form of the Arkham-verse.

"So as long as we've got stories to tell," he concluded. "So long as we feel we can do that and do that really well."

When I look at the picture I just see Eminem, they should go and check to see if he's shown any signs that he wants to become a bird based superhero.

Mark Hamill has bid farewell to his roles voicing Batman nemesis the Joker.

Rocksteady Studio's Batman: Arkham City video game will be the last time that the Star Wars actor plays the role.

"Hello/Goodbye Joker!" Hamill wrote on Twitter. "I've enjoyed every minute behind the wheel of the Crown Prince's crazy car - I'm going to miss him more than I can say!!"

Hamill has been associated with the Clown Prince of Crime for almost 20 years.

He first voiced the character in 1992 in Batman: The Animated Series before going on to reprise his role in episodes of the television shows Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League and Static Shock, as well as the animated movies Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.

Hamill was also involved in the precursor to Arkham City, the acclaimed video game Batman: Arkham Asylum.

How long did it take you to complete?

Tom4784
25-10-2011, 01:48 AM
The main story took me about 10 hours or so, there's a fair few side missions I've still yet to do though so I reckon I've still got around 6 or 7 hours left before I've finished everything.

When you complete the game though you unlock a New Game Plus mode where they take away the counter indicators and such so I'll probably do that as well.

I knew when speaking to Calendar man he kept banging on about Halloween:

Batman: Arkham City will receive Nightwing as a new downloadable character.

Nightwing uses unique weaponry and gadgets, including electric escrima sticks, wrist darts, and a projectile that can ricochet off walls and floors.

The Nightwing Pack will unlock Nightwing as a playable character in Arkham City's challenge maps.

The pack will also feature an alternative skin for Nightwing based on the Batman animated series and two new challenge maps: Wayne Manor and Main Hall.

The Nightwing Pack will be available from November 1 on Xbox 360 and November 2 on PlayStation 3 for 560 MS Points and £4.80 / $6.99 respectively.

But im playing alot of Arkham Asylum lately..Finished all the Riddler stuff yesterday now the challenges are just wrecking my head

Tom4784
28-10-2011, 06:45 PM
The Riddler stuff is a lot more interesting in this game, a bit more variety to it.

One tip I'd give both of you though, don't neglect Catwoman when you level up, throw a point into her armour every once in a while as her last mission is a pain without it.

Tom4784

I like her combat but she's a bit limited when it comes to the predator gameplay which unfortunately counts for a lot of what makes her last mission so hard, until you figureo out how to do it anyway.
