New nature documentary series with David Attenborough starting soon on BBC One and BBC One HD (it's filmed entirely in HD). Sequel to The Blue Planet (2001) and Planet Earth (2005). The seven part series focuses on life in the Artic and Antartic. The production team were keen to film a comprehensive record of the natural history of the polar regions, because climate change is affecting landforms such as glaciers, ice shelves, and the extent of sea ice.
Always love David Attenborough's nature documentaries and this one looks especially great, looking forward to it.

It was like a different program from the previous episodes, so I stopped watching after the Inuit shared the forshore omelette and swapped a few yarns ..... :bored:
AFAIK, next week's episode covers the destruction of the environment - I don't think that one will attract too many viewers ..... :suspect:

The latest episode was amazing, I was slightly expecting to enjoy it less because it didn't focus on the animals but it was just as good as all previous installments. The northen lights look stunning and I'd love to go visit that building in the Antartica, looked so cool.

Those were my initial thoughts too. I found it fascinating how they lived and what courageous things they went to just to get some eggs...

They have a huge budget and the money comes from the UK license fee but a show on this scale and grandeur makes you appreciate paying it.

Very misleading of the BBC :(
Samuel.

I don't think it really matters. The scene wouldn't have been much different had it been filmed out in the north pole somewhere. As long as they're still accurately portraying the life of the animals, I don't see the problem. It's still a scene of polar bear cubs at the end of the day.

"Beeb faked Frozen Planet"
That headline's even more misleading :bored:
Honestly don't know why anyone cares. It was what, a couples of minutes of a 7 hour series? And it showed exactly what it needed to - new born polar bear cubs. Be thankful that this brilliant series was even made in the first place. What the dozens of camera crews must have gone through, the years spent putting it together, the thousands of man hours, just for us to enjoy some great TV, and you're really going to complain about something as small as this?
I guess people like something to moan about, however tiny in the context of things.
Smithy
12-12-2011, 12:19 PM
David Attenborough was on this morning then, he said it was done for the safety of the cubs and the camera man, if they'd have put the camera in the den, the bear would have either killed the cubs or the camera man. Apparently it says in the credits that it was filmed in a zoo too, but they don't say it mid episode coz it'd ruin the atmosphere.
It's nbd imo

I agree, it is a shame that the BBC did not think to tell us in the episode itself. It wouldn't have made the scene any less moving and I still would have enjoyed the episode just as much as I would have done had I not known about this but we as license fee payers have the right to know that it was filmed in a zoo.

Look we all agree on that.
This is About the Fact the BBC kept this hidden
from - How its made,
Its abouts the Producer
who give each show a 10min ending on the camera crew
and how its made.
Thats the Fecking Simple place to tell us about the zoo.
