Just watching a programme (Soho Blues) and in Soho they have this "Booze Bus" which drives around helping, to put it bluntly, pissheads. People totally off their face and ill with drink/drugs in the street. It picks them up, treats them and drives them to hospital or looks after them until they are able to look after themselves again.
These are paramedics volunteering their time aswell as a driver. They literally sit there catching peoples vomit!
Some people amaze me

So that's where Claymores is
We have people in town at the weekend (can't remember what they call themselves) that look after drunk people, get young girls a taxi and, get this... give free flip flop/ slipper things away to girls with sore feet.... genius!

We have people called "Street angels" here, who help drunks and stuff to get home

Saves on ambulances too. I know a paramedic and the service is stretched enough. These ideas must be a Godsend

Actually, I think that's what ours are called too.
Now that IS genius!
It really is... I've lost count of the amount of times I've walked home in bare, bleeding feet. When I think that I've possibly walked though piss, spit, vomit, glass and beasties, it kinda makes me feel sick.

Yup. It's inevitable. Every female ditches the heels!
Just reminded me. That was an 'invention' on Dragons Den. Womens fold up shoes that you can slip in your handbag. Bet they make a fortune

My dad use to work for a teenage drug charity thing (before those idiotic tories cut nearly all help with youth so he lost his job)
Been on one once (not as a drunk or drupped up person) and it was an experience..

and my mother goes out with her Church to help drunk people after a night out (see, Christianity isn't that bad)

Find it pretty amazing myself. Little thanks. Very little or zero funding.
"Oooooh I'm just off to catch peoples vomit" - pleasant. But pretty remarkable
