Seth MacFarlane has claimed that he is secretly hoping to end Family Guy soon.

The creator of the hit Fox animated series - which recently launched its tenth season - told The Hollywood Reporter that while fans are still passionate about the show, part of him feels that it ran its course several years ago.

MacFarlane explained: "Part of me thinks that Family Guy should have already ended. I think seven seasons is about the right lifespan for a TV series.

"I talk to the fans and in a way I'm kind of secretly hoping for them to say we're done with it. There are plenty of people who say the show is kind of over the hill… but still the vast majority go pale in the face when I mention the possibility."

MacFarlane also expressed interest in bringing the series to the big screen following its cancellation, adding: "Creatively, that would be the way to do it for me. Do a really fantastic final episode while the show is still strong."

As long as American Dad continues, I wont be bothered.

We only get the same few episodes of Family Guy on repeat every week here anyway.

If only Matt Groening would do the same with The Simpsons. I think 23 seasons is more than enough.

I remember in one episode that he's actually involved in, he said he didn't want it to go on "forever" like the simpsons, so it's no surprise if it does end tbh

It's still watchable although passed it's best. American Dad's been the better series for a while now and the less said about The Cleveland Show the better.

I've never really got American Dad, it seems a bit overrated to me

I think he's aware that the majority of current Family Guy fans are idiotic children at the moment, and wants to move away from it. Fair enough, really, it hasn't been any good since the fifth or sixth series.

American Dad however

Good. It passed its prime years ago - I realized that when the stewie/brian bank episode aired. South Park and American Dad must go on forever, though <3

I havent watched the last series and im a huge fan of the show. I agree with most of the other posts, American Dad has been better the last 2 or 3 seasons
