Does anyone else have a fear of flying? I'm off on holiday in 3 days time to Tenerife and although I've been on 10 flights in the past I've still got such a massive fear of flying. I don't even know why, it's so much safer than any other form of transport but each time I just freak out and all I can think about in the 48 hours before the flight is how scared I am and how I'd rather just not go on holiday. On the way back over to England I am fine, I just don't know what comes over me but at this moment I am seriously considering just not going, there are 8 of us anyway. Any tips?

You'll be fine when you get there and having laugh and banter with your mates. If it's tenerife it's not that long anyway. You could always put your iPod on and shut your eyes and pretend your sitting at home or on a car journey

When I'm in the plane I find it quite exhilarating (especially the take off and landings) as it gives you that wicked feeling in your stomach, I just watch too much TV I think where everything seems to go wrong on a plane journey

Planes have back up engines/plans if anything goes wrong, it's only really freak weather conditions that bring down planes (and very rarely)..going to somewhere like Tenerife the weather will be fine

unless there's a terrorist or something
Just think about the holiday and the fact that this time on Wednesday you'll be in Tenerife, instead of actually focusing on the journey itself

You're more likely to be killed by a donkey than by plane crash (fact)

I'm sure that's what they thought on Oceanic Flight 815 too.

You're more likely to die in a car crash than on a plane apparently and just think how often they happen!
I always work myself up before plane rides because I HATE the take-off but once it's up there I'm fine, love landing and seeing all the places up-close.
Just don't think about it too much is all I say, just take a book or something and keep yourself occupied and the journey will go quicker too. Oh another tip is to walk about as much as you can, take a few toilet trips just to make you more comfortable with the actual vehicle.
Have a great holiday!

I love flying
Planes hardly ever crash either, most of the time you hear it on the news when one does

That minute or so when you're plunging from 30,000 feet will be the longest time in your life!
