Hair help plz.

Basically my hairs getting long and unsexy and I need to get something sexified and short. The problem is my hair's naturally curly and I have to straighten it otherwise I look like a 40's pin-up girl on crack, so it can't be too short.

Picture suggestions would be lovely. :)

EDIT: Also my hair's very heavy so I can't pull off a La Roux style quiff.
