View Full Version : Sing with your Idol!
ITV is offering budding singers the chance to perform with their favourite artist as part of a new TV show.
Sing With A Star will choose five viewers to have the chance to sing with their idols.
Producers say every taste will be considered from pop to classical, jazz to R 'n' B and musicals to opera.
Entrants must send in a video tape singing the song they would like to perform with their star, together with name, age, contact address and telephone number.
The address to send tapes is:
Sing With A Star
11th Floor
The London Television Centre
Upper Ground
London SE1 9LT

Get that tape in now, Janette! :dazzler: :spin: :dazzler: :spin:
Good question for everyone though - if YOU had the chance to sing with your idol, who would it be? :conf:
Although he's sadly no longer with us, mine would have to be Freddy Mercury (and the rest of Queen, of course!).

I'm afraid my idol is no longer with us either, the late great Roy Orbison.
I was lucky enough to see him though, many years ago, at the Liverpool Empire. :dazzler:

I can't think of anyone in today's music I'd particularly like to sing with (not that I can sing!) except perhaps George Michael. Certainly from 'yesteryear' I would love to have sung with Frank Sinatra - the ultimate song stylist.

I'd like to sing with Otis Redding
http://www.kusp.org/playlists/diner/otis.jpg
Anyone here too young to remember this sublime artist should go HERE (http://www.otisredding.com/audio/index.html) - I recommend These Arms of Mine
or Marvin Gaye

Want to hear Marvin?
LISTEN TO THE MAN (ftp://ftp.buffnet.net/pub/Annie_Waves/page16/lets_get_it_on.wav)
Unfortunately possible only with the technology which brought us the Orbison/Lang and Nat and Natalie duets
However, I don't think either of them would have thanked me for it!
I'd like to sing like ....................

ROB how right you are Marvin Gaye was absolutely fabulous although I also love Otis Redding.
To make things a bit lighter I would like to form a quartet with Brian, Paul and Helen -
my voice would definitely fit in with theirs. I will say no more:joker::joker::thumbs::thumbs:

hi i watched it last night as well it was excellent but does anyone know if that show was a one off or can you still send tapes and that in?
Hi pinky - welcome to TiBB. :wavey:
According to the Radio Times, last night's programme was a 'one hour special' ...... so I'm not sure whether that means it was a one-off programme, or if there will be more one hour specials in the future. Hopefully there will be.
Why don't you drop a note to the address given and ask if it's still worth sending in a tape? Good luck!

Hi Pinky & Kerry :cat:
A big TiBB welcome to both of you.
I enjoyed the programe last night and also thought that the first guy who sang with Ronan was excellent - didn't think much of the rest of them, but it was still fun to watch.
Cilla did say at the end of the programme that if we knew anyone who should sing with a star we should let them know so this seems to indicate that there will be a follow up at some point. Quite often they do 'specials' to gauge how popular a show is and then follow up with a series if it's successful. Let's hope they do so with this one.
