THE stepdad of TOWIE sisters Sam and Billie Faiers has been arrested and charged over a £1million gold bullion heist.

David Chatwood, 57, was arrested at the family home he shares with the reality TV girls and their mum in Brentwood, Essex.

He and five other men were in jail last night accused of an international conspiracy to snatch the gold bars in Belgium.

The arrest of Chatwood — nicknamed Chatty — has stunned The Only Way Is Essex stars Billie, 21, and Sam, 20.

He has been the partner of their mum Sue Wells, 42, for several years.

A source said: "They are close to Dave. He is the man they see as their real dad."

The sisters are still recovering from a vicious double attack by a gang of girl thugs last week.

Chatwood was arrested by the Met's Special Projects Team over the theft of bullion from a lorry in Antwerp on October 19. The gold belonged to a precious metal company and was being transported to the UK.

He has been charged with conspiracy to steal and transfer criminal property with the five others. They appeared at Barking Magistrates' Court last week and were remanded in custody until January.

The stepdad of The Only Way Is Essex stars Sam and Billie Faiers remained in custody last night after a second court appearance over a £1.1million bullion heist.

David Chatwood, 57, spoke only to confirm his name yesterday at a brief hearing at Snaresbrook crown court.

He faces charges alongside five others also accused of conspiring in the theft last month in Antwerp, Belgium.

Chatwood was arrested at the home he shares with his long-term partner, the TOWIE sisters’ 42-year-old mum Sue Wells, in Brentwood, Essex.

Chatwood, Brian Mulcahy, 45, of Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, and John Corley, 52, of Biggin Hill, Kent, were remanded in custody. Kyriacos Nicolas, 29, of Winchmore Hill, North London, was bailed to appear alongside them at the Old Bailey in February.

Gary Cummings, 50, of Ilford, Essex, and Matthew Middleton, 41, of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, are also due to face the same charges.

I'm surprised that Jack the Spurter isn't amongst that "mob" ..... :laugh2:
