What happened to "Penny for the Guy"?

Anyone remember doing this?

Making your own Guy Fawkes out of newspaper-stuffed-tights and dressing him then wheeling him around door-to-door asking "Penny for the Guy?" and getting money (like Trick or Treating but no sweets, just dollar!) then finally putting Guy on the bonfire and blazing it up!

Never see this anymore around here I miss it!

Tramps near me still do it, but luckily I don't have to go to those parts much

My friend tried to get everyone doing it for the 4th year in a row, failed miserably again.
