Frankie Cocozza has been kicked out of The X Factor.

The controversial singer was asked to exit the ITV singing competition after breaking a "golden rule", according to The Sun.

Cocozza, who has become notorious for his hard-partying lifestyle, is believed to have been asked to leave the X Factor house this morning.

"Frankie is devastated but he has broken a golden rule so producers had no option but to axe him," a source reportedly told the tabloid. "He had an extra boost from being kept in at the weekend when he thought he was going to go.

"But now his dream is officially over and he only has himself to blame."

Cocozza is currently at the centre of two Ofcom investigations, amid accusations that he swore on-screen and that his on-screen antics have glamorised the misuse of alcohol.

I think it's because of the invesitgations into his VTs because OFCOM believe they're glamourising alcohol abuse which is unfair to him as it's the way they've been edited which is down to ITV, and let's be realistic here the producers put him through to the live shows because he creates headlines, if the partying was such a problem then why did they follow him around with a camera and film it all? Because they encouraged him to party since it ties in with the character they want to portray, now that it's turned sour on them they've probably axed him for damage control and IF that's the case then it's entirely unfair for both him and the people who have voted to keep him in.

"I'd like to apologise to Gary, my fellow contestants and everyone who has voted for me, but, as of today (Tuesday, November 8), I will no longer be in The X Factor," he said.

"My life during the show has gone out of control and my behaviour off stage has over-stepped the rules of the competition. I no longer deserve my place in the show, so I am therefore leaving. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me."

I don't understand all the fuss over what'll happen, well, it'll be interesting to see what happens, but with regards to bringing back another contestant - that doesn't actually have to happen. We were on course to have three finalists, but now that Frankie has left we're on course to have two. That's happened twice in seven series, so it could happen again [as sh!t as it was before and would be again]. The only other option besides bringing an act back would be to skip an elimination, although I can't see the benefits of that as what'd be the point in the performances this weekend?

Also, I was half a Frankie fan, but the double elimination wasn't to ensure his departure...there would've had to have been a double elimination at some point this series anyway as we were one up in numbers. I realise there were four finalists last year, but I reckon that was down to the sheer fact that four double eliminations would've been too much, and that's also why the 'eliminate four acts first week' twist was implemented this year.
