View Full Version : In the Shilpa vs Jade row, I liked Jade better

I know that's going to invite a pandora's box of allegations but she was at least entertaining in her snarky comments. I thought Jade's problem with Shilpa stemmed from the fact that they were both female and from different cultures rather than different races. Jade got along just fine with Michael Jackson's brother. Personally, I know Shilpa's a nice person who didn't deserve the treatment but her voice did kind of get on my nerves and she only won because everyone felt bad for her. I didn't think she deserved to win because she won not based on who she was and how entertaining she was but by how others treated her. Also, the Indian people and government becoming incensed by how Shilpa was treated was kind of funny in how trivial it was. If I lived in the UK and had a vote, I'd vote for Jade to stay over Shilpa just because Jade was an interesting cast member who created good drama and was only guilty of not getting along with one person.

Jade was a bit ignorant in the comments she made, but that was all. It wasnt nice to see 3 against 1 but I did like Jade and it was all blown out of control.
If Jade wasnt evicted, theyd have probably made-up before the series ended. Jade knew she was being big-headed.

I've seen quite a bit on YouTube and basing it on that, it seems Shilpa was being pathetic and Jade overreacted, typical BB.

Yepp, I mean if that wasnt the eviction case.
Goody was a nasty piece of work who got too big for her boots because, after BB3, when the red-tops whipped up enough hysteria to kill her, she had been hastily rewritten as the "nation's favourite dimbo" and was given multiple media vehicles on which to ply her "persona" - inevitably, as a result of the "protection", she became deluded, thinking she was a "star" and invincible, and manipulative, developing into a vicious foul-mouthed lying "schoolyard bully" who would build up a "gang" in order to intimidate someone she didn't like (for whatever reason) .....
Shilpa, of course, not only had the advantage of good looks but also good manners, something Goody never even tried to acquire, preferring to spend her money on cars, holidays and houses .....
Even in her personal life, her physical and mental abuse drove away the father of her two sons .....
Pity poor Ken :
Ken Russell brands the Goody family 'guttersnipes' and 'slum dwellers'
Celebrity Big Brother contestant Ken Russell has branded Jade Goody and her family "slum dwellers". The veteran film director walked out of the Channel 4 reality show at the weekend after a row with Jade.
The stress of sharing a house with the "vulgar" Jade and her mother, Jackiey, made him fear he would have a stroke, reported a national newspaper.
"I grew up in the slums of Southampton and we had a word for people like that - guttersnipes.
"There should be a Devil's Island where we can send these people, they're all going to Hell anyway," Russell said.
"I've met people from all walks of life but no-one so vulgar. It's almost as though they've been programmed to be vulgar, horrible and objectionable.
"They speak in a language which is deliberately limited. They didn't even seem to know how to use a knife and fork."
Jade entered the house with mum Jackiey and boyfriend Jack Tweed.
Russell, 79, said: "I tried to get on with them, but they acted like royalty. They looked down on everyone. They were name-dropping or going on about sunbeds."
The Women In Love director has previously suffered a stroke.
And he said: "I thought 'If this going to go on for 25 days I can't take it'. I was worried I'd have another stroke."

Nah, I watched it all as it was happening, Jade and the her crew were disgusting. I know the word bully gets thrown around willy nilly during BBs but it was well deserved in this case. Did Shilpa win because of the bullying? probably but she deserved that after what she endured.

You will recall, then, Tweedy masturbating and ejaculating on the gruesome Goody's thigh .....

I don't know what you were watching but I think it was clear to most Jade along with with the two other b itches she teamed up with in the house behavioured very badly towards Shilpa. I literally turned off the live feeds as it was hard to watch.

Jade was a horrible human being, who has had her life rewritten because she unfortunately died prematurely and tragically (for her family). After Princess Diana died, the whole nation does this completely insane grief thing, every time someone in the public eye dies.
Jade was stupid and nasty. The fact she is dead doesn't change those facts.

I agree. I mean of course it was a terrible tragedy, especially for her two little boys and I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but it doesn't change the fact that she was a rude and ignorant person.

Completely agree with this
It is sad what happened to Jade but she and her crew were vile towards Shilpa in CBB5, it was not nice viewing.

I thought Danielle was the worst to Shilpa and only got away with it because of her looks.
Imo Shilpa started it as soon as Jade and her family entered the house so it was game on.

CBB5 was a great series, but ruined by the British press and what I like to call delusional, pathetic band-wagon hoppers who joined the ride just to complain about things they had absolutely no ****ing clue about. I've always found it pretty laughable that it was labelled the 'race row', when there were no incidents of racism whatsoever, as was also confirmed by police after they did a thorough check of all the tapes. Bullying, yes, but no racism.
I never saw BB3 but Jade was a great housemate in that series, it was great TV but I'm against bullying and this was no different, it was pretty vile. Shilpa however, did absolutely not deserve to win. She was a total bore that did nothing other than pick up the sympathy vote, and I'm sorry...but that still doesn't warrant a win.
I still maintain to this day that Big Brother's demise was down to that series (as I'm sure we all are), and the main cause of it were the press and idiotic sheep that followed the crowd.
Jade Goody is responsible for getting "Poppadom" in Wikipedia's List of ethnic slurs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ethnic_slurs)
Poppadom
(United Kingdom) Used as a derogatory term directed towards South Asians (and sometimes Middle Eastern people). The term was most infamously used during a Celebrity Big Brother racism controversy.

There were definitely racist remarks made about Shilpa and Indians. The two I can remember off the top of my head were (think it was Danielle who said it but not 100%) when commenting on how Shilpa had under cooked the chicken Maybe that's why they're all so skinny in India cos they've got food poisoning from not cooking chicken properly (or similar) and also the Shilpa popadum comment by Jade. I'm sure there was more but that's all I remember off the top of my head. They also mocked her accent iirc.
Granted Shilpa may not have won if it weren't for the whole bully thing and yes, I agree it led to the downfall of BB however that was not Shilpas fault, she did not ask to be bullied and harassed by 3 ignorant, rude bitches, so if anyone is to blame, it's them.
Yeah there were loads of racist comments; Jack called her a "p*ki", Danielle said she was a "dog" and should "****** off home" and Jade also said she should go back to the slums or something like that, the whole thing was disgusting

Yeah, I remember all that. How anyone can deny they were racist bullies is beyond me tbh

I agree it was a major culture clash rather than racist because Jade was very ignorant BUT there were definitely racist remarks made especially from Danielle who I found to be much worse when it came to what she actually said, although Jade was more aggressive.
I absolutely hate CBB5 and have never had any desire to rewatch a single second of it for the simple fact of how uncomfortable it made me feel seeing them all ganging up against Shilpa. Regardless of their differences, she was treated horrendously.
I remember I had to switch live feed off one night because I found it very upsetting when Jade and (I think) Danielle and Cleo had sat Shilpa down one late night in the kitchen and reduced her to tears because they were treating her as though she'd done something to bring it all on herself. There's a lot of grey areas when it comes to racism but she was most definitely bullied, and that's the classic trait making the victim think it's all their own fault.
Every one refers to it as the Jade vs Shilpa incident but it was actually Shilpa pitted against 4 or 5 very nasty people.

Yeah, absolutely agree, I think Jade got most of the blame because, as you said, she was most vocally aggressive.

Absolutely.
And reading the OP again just now I'm actually shocked.
Jade should have won because she kept it entertaining? As much as we all love a bit of drama on the show, outright malicious bullying is not entertainment.
Yeah Jade had her 2 closest family members in there backing her up and I think she also kinda asserted herself as the leader of the group of her, Danielle and Jo. Danielle said some of the worst things but because she was young and also pretty stupid I think she didn't receive as much criticism, she seemed almost to be trying to impress Jade with some of her comments I thought. Shilpa sort of had Jermaine on her side but he was quite a passive figure and I don't really think he wanted confrontation so wasn't that vocal to the others in defence of her

Yeah, I love a bit of drama, Fight Night was one the best moments in BB history but this wasn't the same. I remember being so uncomfortable watching it, I kept waiting and hoping for BB to intervene, it was terrible to watch.
