I know there was another thread couple of weeks back, but I think it's actually happened this time, loads of people on twitter confirming it..
It's about time, awful overpaid duo
I wouldn't mind Dan Lobb getting it full time but I think Johnny Vaughans doing it
Callum
18-11-2011, 11:28 PM
I assume Dan Lobb and Kate Garraway will become the permanent hosts now then
Poor guys. The One Show won't want them back now
About time. Bring on Helen Fospero :amazed: she was getting the job according to articles a few weeks back. I hope John Stapleton comes back as well
I do like them but they're not suited to Daybreak at all. Christine now has Dancing on Ice and Adrian is doing other stuff so they're never on anyway and its a good time for them to move on

Chiles shouldn't be in TV/broadcasting FULL STOP

Helen Fospero will likely become the Friday presenter with perhaps John Stapelton or Johnny Vaughan.

I liked them, everyone who said they were awful are just saying it because they moved to ITV for loads of money and ditched the boring BBC.
They were no worse than any of the other morning presenters.

No more annoying or terrible than the cringe worthy BBC Breakfast presenter guy, I don't even know his name, or care to know.
And the two women on the Breakfast show are awful! I recently read that they refused to move out of London for their jobs and demanded a pay-off for when the BBC moves up north.

Adrian always stutters, he is not a good presenter in the slightest. Always miserable too. It's bizarre that someone thought it would be a good idea to have him presenting a morning show in the first place.

Adrian is terrible, I admit that.
How he ever got on ANY television show is beyond me, talk about a face for radio.

Whenever I put "Lorraine" on its always Fiona Phillips or Helen Fospero presenting it anyway :joker:
I like Lorraine. I like Eamonn too but Sunrise is good, so are him & Ruth on This Morning so I don't want him on Daybreak
Johnny Vaughn & Helen would be a good shout to take over, I hope they don't choose Kate & Dan. I liked them at first but can't stand them anymore. Garraway is unbearable again, her laugh is horrendous

Full article:
DAYBREAK disaster duo Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley have been axed after being given a thumbs-down by viewers.
ITV bosses finally lost patience with their star presenters as ratings continued to dwindle.
The pair, who were poached from the BBC last year with golden handcuff deals of £1million a year, will now disappear from the breakfast sofa “within weeks”.
A source said last night: “They ran out of time to turn Daybreak around. The advertising numbers had fallen off a cliff because Adrian and Christine were such a turn-off. In today’s climate that was unacceptable.”
Bleakley and Chiles have both been informed of the decision.
Chiles, who hosts ITV’s Champions League Football coverage and has a Sunday night chat show, was prepared to admit he had been axed from Daybreak, according to the source.
But Bleakley, who is engaged to Chelsea star Frank Lampard, wants it to be said she is leaving for new projects.
Last night it emerged she is to replace Holly Willoughby next year as host of ITV’s Dancing on Ice – where she will hope to pick herself up after the Daybreak debacle.
Following a lavish £15million launch last September, Daybreak saw ratings settle at a poor 700,000 – half their BBC Breakfast rival – prompting advertising revenues to plunge.
ITV are now planning an April relaunch and will try out a number of different presenters, preferring two relative unknowns.
Chiles, 44, and Bleakley, 32, were poached from the BBC’s massively successful One Show by ITV chief Peter Fincham.
He continued to back the highly paid pair, despite Daybreak pulling in 200,000 fewer viewers than its axed *predecessor GMTV.
However, ITV chief executive Adam Crozier insisted that the pair were dumped.
Chiefs want the show freshened up and David Kermode – the star editor who helped to revive BBC Breakfast – was hired last month.
The source revealed: “With a new editor joining, it is only fair to allow him to reinvent the series in the hope it can compete with BBC Breakfast, which was the original aim.
“If changes aren’t made, the audience is never going to grow and the show will be standing still or going backwards. That’s not an option.
“It may seem harsh but Christine and Adrian been given more than a year to prove themselves. They have to go. They have been given the bad news and will be off the programme within the next few weeks.”
The Mirror revealed in the summer that bosses were trying to axe the pair from the “horribly under-performing” show. One insider described them as an “expensive headache”.
Last night Bleakley said she was delighted to be joining co-host Phillip Schofield on Dancing on Ice.
She said: “I’ve always been a total Dancing on Ice addict so it really is hard to sum up how excited I am to be joining the team.
“My only concern was what a big task it is to follow Holly and I can only promise her, Phillip and everyone at home that they couldn’t have a bigger fan of the show on board.”
Looks like Dan and Kate/Helen will be filling in until April then

Lorraine is such a pointless show
Especialy that Ross guy reporting on irrelevant celebrities and probably getting paid lots to do it
Not to mention Lorraine getting paid alot of money when she's hardly even there

True, Lorraine is hardly on. It was silly to call the show simply "Lorraine".
It won't be axed though because it gets more viewers than Daybreak itself.

Not surprised. Daybreak was doomed from start to finish. Both Christine and Adrian messed up ditching the BBC for ITV, bet they regret it now despite the high wages.
Lorraine is a waste of time too. BBC Breakfast rules in the morning!

clbleakley: Morning, what a lovely headline to wake up to. My sarcasm comes across in this tweet I hope x
I actually feel quite sorry for Christine, the fact they are blaming her and Adrian for the failure of the show is unfair. It's the show that's crap, wouldn't have made a difference who was presenting, it was destined to fail from the start.
I feel a bit sorry for Christine as well, shes an alright presenter but not suited to this at all. Adrian on the other hand has a strong journalist background and he hasn't been great.
Its official btw, not rumours anymore. They leave at the end of the year. He's already slagging ITV off like he was slagging the BBC off when he got dropped from Fridays One Show. When their contracts are up I can see Christine staying but ITV will ditch Adrian faster than he ditched the BBC

Did they mention the news at all on the show this morning?
Christine wasn't on funnily enough. Garraway was on more smug than she ever was at GMTV, can't wait until shes knocked back into check when she finds out she probably won't be the new female anchor ... again.
Eamonn Holmes & Natasha Kaplinsky rumoured to be the new presenters. Wouldn't mind that, but would rather have Eamonn & Helen with Natasha on the news desk, but I'm sure Helen will be involved in some form or another.
Kate, Dan, her off BBC3 news who looks good but can't read the autocue and that annoying showbiz guy should be next for the chop

She still seems so nervous and uncomfortable when presenting the weather too and it's been a year since the show began now. Kirsty is the much superior weather presenter.
I wouldn't mind seeing Lucy Watson, the stand in news presenter, promoted to main show presenter. She's presented a few times with Adrian now and I really liked her, she seems more comfortable and better at anchoring the show than reading the news actually.

This Studio is Far better than the BBC
as they have a stage for Live Music

are better than the old gits on the bbc.
And great to have long debates on the ITV1Jungle.

Eamonn is staying with SkyNewsHD
as they look after him better.
Who should present Daybreak?
Johnny Vaughan, Emma Crosby,
Natasha Kaplinksy, Sian Williams and Dan Lobb
could all be considered for the
breakfast TV job.
But which would you choose?

Dont think it really matters,IF the producers etc.keep getting it wrong nothing will save it,make me smile the way they keep blaming the 'presenters' when they can only do what they are told, the format is old and lazy(much like the producers)they need to bring it into the present and liven it up,Yes good presenters will help, but they can only do so much with what they are given,so hopefully it will be completely revamped or scrapped altogether
To be honest, Daybreak is such a cold show, and by cold I really mean cold, as in it makes me feel cold :idc:
GMTV made me feel warm with its lovely theme tune and nice orange logo, but Daybreak is a horrible grey dark blue ugly mess :l

John Stapleton & Helen Fospero get my vote, but would love it if they brought Penny Smith back. I used to see the GMTV Newshour a lot and preferred it over the main part of the show. I miss that
My money is on Kate Garraway & Dan Lobb Mon-Thurs and John & Helen on a Friday. They've already said they don't want big names, I can't really see them doing anything else and Kate & Dan seem to get a good reponse.

The studio is awful. It looked good at first but not suited to a breakfast show but they've changed it way too much and now its like a nightclub with all the neon lights. The view is pretty bleak as well, couldn't even see out of the window yesterday it was that foggy

Penny Smith won't be returning because she said in an interview that she loves not having to get up early in the mornings anymore. Shame because she was great at covering serious topics but also seemed down to earth too.

Now leaving earlier than originally speculated and their final show will be on Monday according to the Daily Mirror.
Don't see why they didn't just do today with Kate & Dan taking over on Monday. Seems a bit weird for a last show to be on a Monday especially as they'll probzably be putting the xmas trees up next week so would mark a good divide into the new era so to speak
She mentions it in the video at the bottom of Daily Mail article (see below). Shes coming across quite well and much better than Adrian, quite looking forward to seeing how she transfers to ITV's entertainment shows. I think her & Phil will be a great pairing, probably better than Phil & Holly.

They didn't have no big send off, was only mentioned briefly right at the end of the show.
Anyone see it this morning? John & Kate like the good old days :amazed: Kate seems to have gained a new accent in the last week though
Also Bleakley is proving to be somewhat of a curse for new shows, that Text Santa thing only got 4m viewers the other night when it was on right after X Factor. If DOI goes tits up I bet she gets the blame for it

Was like watching GMTV again. I wouldn't mind seeing John become the permanent presenter with Kate but I don't think he will be asked and I don't think he would be even up for it if he was. Loved his interrogation of the TOWIE lot, when he asked if they were embarassed was just classic.
