Music is a massive part of my life, I couldn't bear a day without listening to some, and there is so much that brings back memories of different things in my life, events, people and places.

Growing up, I remember playing my parents vinyl records, they had stuff like Tony Christie, Perry Como, The Four Tops. I absolutely loved Amarillo and Tie a yellow ribbon. My mum had The Nolans Greatest Hits and I was often heard murdering I'm in the mood for Dancing in my bedroom accompanied by herd of elephant noises as I danced to it. Dear God!

The eighties were the soundtrack to my teenage years, I idolised Madonna, Kim Wilde and Bananarama. My room was plastered in posters, Adam Ant, Spandau Ballet, Kajagoogoo, and loads more.

In the nineties, I loved all the Stock, Aitken and Waterman stuff, the cheesier the better. Kylie was a favourite, I had gone off Madonna a bit, her earlier stuff was much better. I knew every single word of Ice Ice baby by Vanilla Ice by heart, still love it today......

more to follow....

Continued from OP....

All the dance music of the nineties brings back loads of memories, used to go to clubs in Liverpool and bars at the Albert Dock. I spent a few years working for a hospital radio station, and lovf it, they were a great bunch of people and we had so much fun. The best club was called Ferrari's in Huyton and they played stuff like Robin S, 2 Unlimited, Haddaway, Scatman.

I was massively into Oasis when they were on the scene, Blur didnt do much for me.

One particular song that holds sad memories for me although I love it is Dreams by Gabrielle. It reminds me of my ex partner, but thats all I want to say on that subject.

Most recently I find my music tastes more varied than ever, I don't tend to like everything by one particular artist, just random songs.

How about you? What songs are relevant to your life?

Toyah was the one for me when I was a little lad. I remember thinking she was going to take over Blondie in terms of success. (I was never very good with predictions)

I then found Pink Floyd and I remember saving my pocket money to buy their LPs.

After Toyah it was Tears For Fears, Depeche Mode, Yazoo. The 80s from 1980 - 1985 were the best music has ever been for me. Artists such as Blancmange, Visage, A Flock Of Seagulls, The Damned, Simple Minds, Ultravox and Marillion.

I loved early U2 but the bigger they became the faster I started to drift away.

Never a fan of Madonna, Wham! Duran Duran, David Bowie, Elton John, Billy Joel or Michael Jackson. I did listen more to these during the late 90s and found them to be quite enjoyable.

I didn't enjoy the late 80s because I was never a fan of SAW however I did like Deacon Blue, Erasure,

The 90s were great, from James, The Charlatans, Lightning Seeds to Oasis, Blur, Suede, Pulp, REM and pretty much most of the britpop from that era.

Didn't really care for much in the 00s, but the last few years have been brilliant and I'm loving more and more new music today.

I've got quite a few songs to add to my soundtrack, but this one (even though its before my time) means the most. I got into Pink Floyd when I was about 15 and since then this song has meant so much to me. It's been with me through sad times and happy times and I relate it to quite a few different people, some who are still here and some who aren't.
