Not only the bb section, but also when you started posting in Chat & Games.

It had a bad atmosphere, and the XMB or w/e software was atrocious. The people seemed like idiots, too. I was so close to making a thread saying you're all ***** **** it I'm leaving. Glad I didn't, though.

This is the first forum I've ever joined and I started posting bang in the middle of BB, was very scary as lots of people seemed to get quite het up about things, but people seem to be getting a bit friendlier now..

I agree with the clique thing and generally you were expected to join one or the other.

I only really posted in the updates threads otherwise so no opinion. The updates thead was brilliant though.

Thought it was just a decent place to spend a couple of hours discussing BB every now and then when I got bored, God knows how I've ended up a Mod on here

Was surprised at the scale of arguments on here as well after I'd gotten to know the place better, always thought it was a happy place where everyone got along but that was pretty much shattered on BB final night when it all kicked off  took me a while to get used to the off-topic sections and to the site during off-season, all felt a bit weird at the time I think

everyone was quite nice in C&G when I joined. Except the oldies seemed to be continually warring with each other. I blame the 2007 generation for making it bitchy. (although from what Greg's said it wasn't much better before either)

Callum

Can't remember that much seeing as it was 4 years ago but I remember feeling there was a definite divide on the forum when I first signed up and that I was looked down upon for having a low postcount and anything I posted was not taken very seriously. I also remember when Harry (he was known as Posted_Spice in 2007) joined, people including myself were quite mean to him because he was obsessed with Pete Burns and the Spice Girls. He used to make banners and a lot of members would insult his graphics and he often posted "OK!" in his graphic shop and me and a few other members used to take the mick out of him for it. I feel bad for that now of course.

I miss lots of the members that were active in 2007. :(

I was googling for pictures the day after launch night for Steph BB9 I think, and found the gallery on here, signed up to talk about BB but didn't really like anyone so started just trying to annoy everyone by posting threads about Mario all the time because he was hated on here.

I think the first person I spoke to properly was Annie, but I got banned straight away as soon as I entered chat and games. The mods didn't half to be harsh to new members compared to old ones :nono:

When I first joined I had little idea what to expect,I had read a lot of the comments before joining so knew there lot's of disagreements, being a Student,I am used to that as we all disagree a lot of the time.

I joined in the main for BB11 but was surprised that I didn't get any real abuse or nasty comments to myself,(had plenty since though). I have to say that one member 'Jedward fever' welcomed me in the first few days I was on here, he and I agreed on lot's of issues, not just BB so it was good to develop a strong supportive base with a member so quickly.I have never forgot or will forget his friendliness and kindness in those first few weeks or right up to the present.

Then other members got supportive and I agreed with lot's they said to so I would have to say my first impressions were really good.

In the main,I found the Mods supportive and helpful too and apart from an error and misunderstanding not long after I joined I haven't had any major issues with anyone. I prefer to deal with abuse to me myself, largely by avoidance but saying my piece, however like someone said above, I do feel for new members who make an introduction thread and then get loads of negative or even insulting comments thrown at them.

Overall though,I see tibb as a family,we all won't agree a lot of the time but when we do we are unbeatable,I said on a thread a good while ago now that I saw tibb as like a family but there were times you wished you were out when some of the family came visiting.
I do try to like everyone though and prefer to see the positive in people than anything negative.

When I joined, it was very innocent. People would be banned for swearing (Linda was banned for I think 17 months for posting DamN! all the time, breaking the swear filter, to give an example) and the arguments peaked at stuff like "I strongly disagree with you!!!" I drifted away from the forum for a while, came back and posted a lot more and then found myself being roped into arguments with Chrizzle, MarkWaldorf, Princess and all the other young teenage users which IMO set the precedent for all the cliques and offensive arguments on the forum. It even drove me away from posting for quite a long time, and when I eventually came back I found myself feeling like I was an outsider looking in. It took a long time for me to feel like I belonged on the forum (when I did the Perfect X Factor with Shaun, Darenn and Billy) but ever since then I've felt like I've had my place on the forum and haven't ever considered leaving it since. It turned into a bitchy clique fest around the time Big Brother itself turned into a bitchy clique fest - I guess like attracts like.

Well I saw the chat thread (which later I'd become a regular poster in) and didn't know what to say cos every 5 minutes it was Scott, Stacey or Smithy posting something weird. And I felt so lost. I posted a bit in the BB section and had some stupid Chandler Bing avatar and um, I posted in The Shack or whatever it was called and Stacey asked how old I was as she does, and then I spoke to Scott about Hollyoaks. He was the first proper conversation I had really, surprisingly he made me feel welcome. Then I kept posting there and went on TC for the first time and then I just felt like part of the forum after that really. But I found it weird how un-forumlike it felt. Are my the only one who doesn't rate the Zeta/Brotherhood days? From an outside perspective I found the whole thing dreadfully boring. It was painful at times watching some genuinly brilliant posters become awful, repetetive, predictable caricatures of themselves.

Anyway it was great when I came here. It's a bit crap now though. It's still very busy and has this weird mix of people which keeps me posting but for the most part young teenagers rising to be some of the most consistent, prolific posters has spelled the downfall of the site.

I know they'll all disagree and I'm sure most of them are nice people they're just not all that interesting. The forum literally feels like some pop music discussion forum hosted on a free domain provider advertised on the back of a cereal box or something at times.

I hated it too, I actively distanced myself from it all. It wasn't even really Zeta vs Brotherhood, if anything it was a schism that forced new members to feel as if they had to be part of one, or the other, and actually limited conversation. The forum felt less active than it does now, idk if that makes sense, but in the sense that people were so dedicated to posting in either thread that there wasn't so much discussion elsewhere. Then Zeta died, followed shortly by The Brotherhood and that Independents thing appeared from nowhere, as did The Shack/whatever else you want to call it. What we've been left with are the remnants of the Zeta/Brotherhood days still roaming the forum looking a bit like relics (and for example, newer members kicking up a fuss when old members reappear, allegedly with some kind of agenda) and not really belonging to the forum anymore because they belong to an older time. That's my take on it anyway.

I agree with that but am most probably one of the people you describe.

I think at first the Zeta/Brotherhood thing was pretty funny and just a bit of banter but after about a week it got a bit out of hand and started to get a bit vicious. I prefered arguing with the Britney Spears obsessives if I'm honest which was a bit before that :joker:

Agree about the site, its still OK to post in, most of my posts tend to be in episode discussion threads now though. It doesn't really feel like a community anymore, maybe I'm just out of the loop now because I don't use MSN or don't speak to any members anymore but I don't really get the sense that most people know who anyone else is. It just seems to be the mods that know each other.

The evolution of Zeta:

Paris Hilton obsessives (Chrizzle, Markus [now MarkWaldorf] et al) > Britney Spears obsessives (MarkWaldorf, Hugo, DamonJ et al) > Zeta (MarkWaldorf, MrGaryy, Hugo et al) > Zeta 2.0 [post Hugo revelation and Ross disappearing for ages] (Shaun, MrGaryy, lily, Jen, LemonJam, Dezzy, Rory, MarkWaldorf, sometimes Darenn, sometimes Marc, sometimes Matt and myself)

That's how I see it, anyway. Although I now love him, I used to hate Mark with a passion, and I entirely blame (or credit) him for setting the precedent of female-artist-obsessed-insanely-high-post-count type of user.

I used to love winding the Britney brigade up (as I used to call them). You only had the mention her name and they'd be out in force quoting your post within seconds.

Quite cliquey and bitchy. I liked it more when more newbies arrived same time or just after me. I used to post in The Den quite a bit back in 09! A lot of great members from 09. I felt we got a lot of stick. But newbies always seem to get some stick.

I wish Lauren would come back though. She is always pleasant to everyone like the mother goose of the forum.

Suppose there is plenty of members we all miss. I miss Raph too. And a lot of banned members. Ross should come back to the forum more often too.

Seems the cliquishness is the running theme here. It felt like that for me as well after venturing into anything non-BB related, but everyone's been nice. None of the arguments and bitchiness that y'all have mentioned experiencing.

Thanks Joey.

I agree with you and other members on this thread that when I first joined I took on all of the older members because they would take the piss out of my spelling and grammar,:joker: I even remember insulting Stu and Patrick in PM because they annoyed me so much at the time, but now I am cool with them.
