the old ones you mentioned are much better anyway scary films now are all about torturing and raping people smh why cant we just have ghosts and witches like the good old days
Silence of the Lambs, that terrified me, and the Shining, I find the psychological ones the most disturbing, films like A Serbian Film & I Spit on your Grave are disgusting but not as scary
Glenn.

-has never seen Silence of the Lambs-

I recently watched Rob Zombies H2 and the gore in that is almost too much to watch.
I think Scream could benefit from the gore of that level.

But lots of gore doesn't necessarily make it scary. Things left to the imagination are much more scary imo, like the Blair Witch

I didn't imply that it wasn't scary enough, I just think the gore could of been stepped up a little bit.

One of the haunts for me with Salem's Lot was that tap tap tapping at the window. It sends shivers up my spine thinking about it.
I also found 'The Last House On The Left' very disturbing. I have only watched it the once but have thought about skipping the rape part in the woods if I watch it again.

Even though I don't really find it scary anymore, my favourite is Scream.

When Alien came out, no one had ever seen anything like it before. It freaked people out so much that sometimes people would run out of the theater screaming.
