The fact I can actually make a strong case for Wade against any player currently playing just shows how great the man is. His poor poor team teams aside if not for injury Miami don't lose from 3-2 up against Detroit in 05 and more then likely beat the Spurs in the final. If not for injury in 07 when is was averaging 29/8/8 he more then likely gets an MVP and scoring title. If not for injury even with Lebron stinking up the place Miami still win the 11 finals.

“A lot,” he said, laughing again. “A lot. Everything works together. We all like to say it, but if you ain’t happy at home, then it trickles down to everything, to your attitude, in how you carry yourself and how you talk to people, and all these different things.”

He has not hidden that happiness, posting plenty of photos of the power couple together, even sharing a social media Valentine’s Day message with Union, noting “that smile keeps me smiling.”

“I am in a public relationship with someone who has her own fame,” Wade said. “We have so much privacy, and we want to enjoy that, but there are times we understand that we have people who love us together, and we want to share that with them. I think we do a good job of giving them just enough of us. Sometimes, we can be maybe someone that someone looks at and says, ‘I want a relationship like theirs.’”

Ultimately, his play will shape most perceptions. He spoke of how his second championship meant as much to him as the first did to James, because of his role in helping to put “this Big 3 thing together, and knowing how difficult it is to play with each other and to be able to accomplish our goal.”

He spoke of the sacrifice required, one he’s not certain that, Bryant aside, all have recognized, as critics focus on his scoring dip without noting the reduced number of shots and improved efficiency.

Does he believe players view him differently?

“Probably so,” Wade said. “At one point, I was looked at as one of the top three players in the league, you know, with Kobe and LeBron. And now obviously, they don’t talk about me as a top three player in the league. … For me, I just do anything I can to help my team win.”

Even if he still struggles with it some.

“I always say that when I retire, maybe people will give me more credit,” Wade said. “Obviously, I did what I felt was right for my happiness, I did what I felt was needed for this team, for everyone to succeed.

“I don’t think everyone can do that. Obviously I can score 30 points a night, I’ve been gifted with that ability. But that wasn’t my goal. My goal was to do something special, and we are in the midst of doing it.”

He’s in the midst, at age 31, of leaving his mark.

“I do know now that I have this legacy,” Wade said.

When he first turned pro, he never pondered that. It wasn’t about commercials or earnings or records.

“I was just thinking about playing the game of basketball, and those things came, God bless it,” Wade said. “So right now, I know that I’m in the midst of adding to my legacy. I feel like I’ve got a lot to add, I’ve got a lot still left to do. It’s changed a little bit, from probably the path it was on, but I just moved across the street, I didn’t move off the block.”

Bron's celebrations are always pretty LOOOL worthy and god he went ham at the start of the 4th BUT for some reason since the Milwaukee game he has decided to go Kobe esque with the iso ball and it is affecting the team and himself. Not only is everyone else pretty much ice cold but his shooting percentage is dropping and is given up too many turnovers

Up until Milwaukee the ball movement was out of this world and everyone was getting touches. Him taking more shots then Bosh and Wade combined and then shooting less then 50% is just a NO NO. I think the credit Wade was getting for the streak got to Bron TBH and he is over compensating as a result

It was before the nickname, the championships and television commercials.

Years prior to Dwyane Wade becoming D-Wade, there was a time he doubted whether he could actually play in the NBA. It wasn't until his freshman season at Marquette when he finally realized it was possible.

And the person who played a role in determining it is now a teammate.

Wade has Ray Allen to thank for giving him that boost of confidence during the early stages of his career. They first met in the city the Miami Heat are trying to close out a first-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks on the way to a possible second straight championship.

While the moment is more about them moving forward, they can't help but look back.

The year was 2001.

At the time, Wade was still stinging from being overlooked in high school. He was also struggling to deal with sitting out his first year of college because of academic issues. Allen, in his fifth season with the Bucks, was coming into his own as an NBA superstar.

Their careers couldn't have been further apart.

None of that mattered when they faced each other for the first time.

Wade and some of his Marquette teammates would sometimes practice against the Bucks during training camp. Some games were played on the college campus. Some were at Bradley Center, site of Thursday's Game 3 between the Heat and Bucks.

The result was always the same.

The unproven youngster tried to outplay the established veteran.

"It was cool because that was the year I wasn't playing and I could go over there all the time," Wade said. "I was a kid and I'm thinking, 'Man, this is Ray Allen.' But I was a competitor. I always want to compete."'

Allen versus Wade eventually became a must-see matchup on the floor. Wade had graduated from facing the Bucks' other players. He once outplayed Michael Redd so badly the gym went silent.

"The reaction was everyone — both our players and the Bucks' players — started looking around," said Cordell Henry, Wade's Marquette teammate. "They were like, 'All right, Michael Redd, he's coming at you right now.' "

That confidence carried over to when Wade lined up against Allen. It grew to a point where they sought each other on the court. Last week, Allen said there was "no nostalgia associated with me" for playing in the playoffs against the team that drafted him in 1996. He's moved on from his days in Milwaukee, and mostly linked with the Boston Celtics.

Yet Allen does remember being challenged by Wade.

"He and I went at it every time we played," Allen said. "I was like, 'I know I gotta be on my game whenever he was around.' It wasn't like he deferred. He just attacked. He wasn't intimidated by the fact that I was playing in the pros.' "

That's why Wade calls the experience a vital part of his success. It was the first time he had proven his ability against the best, sort of serving as the starting point of a Hall of Fame career. It led to a strong sophomore season followed by a junior year that propelled him into the NBA Draft Lottery.

"I competed with them," Wade said. "I thought when I was able to play with the Bucks and play with those guys, it kind of gave me a feeling that I could play at that level one day."

The games sparked a friendship that lasted until Allen was traded to Seattle midway through Wade's final college season. Wade made the most of the time, receiving guidance from Allen during the time.

"We kind of lost touch after he was traded," Wade said. "But when he was in Milwaukee, I talked to him a lot at different times and tried to pick his brain."

Wade and Allen have yet another opportunity to take the court here together. Only this time, the goal is outshining the opponent instead of each other.
