how are you going to be got rid of??? you DIEcide!

I always thought cremation was best but recently having been to a funeral or two, I think it's better to be buried, at least there's some kind of monolith to remember you by??

In other parts of the world they have buildings known as 'nichos' or 'niche' they're a bit like miniature flats for coffins, which is a third option I suppose.

Nichos:

When you're cremated, that's it, as if you weren't even there. I think I prefer Burial.

edit: please put this in the right place mods obviously although the x-factor these days is probably a fate worse than death it's not really in the right section

Lol Fruity, what a lovely cheery thread :D

I would rather be cremated, my dad was cremated and we buried his ashes in the same plot as my Grandparents, so he does have a memorial site. Don't like the thought of bodies rotting away underground, yeurgh!

tyvm Kate! there's a local church I've been spending quite a lot of time in recently, and now I've got more used to the graves they become a bit less macabre and more like people. I always imagine the grave stones as if they were the people themselves standing there for eternity

I would rather be cremated, I hate graveyards and I don't want a grave after I die. What I would like is to be cremated and also Gav wants to be cremated so whoever dies first the other will keep their ashes and when the second person dies our ashes will be mixed together and scattered awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Buried, usually after people die they have their blood removed and replaced with preservatives and the like (to look alive in the chapel of rest), so they chances of being buried alive are pretty much nil.

I guess it's unlikely but although your dead and you might not be able to think or process a thought, it doesn't necessarily mean that your unaware of yourself existence completely

Hmm.. well personally, I don't care as ill be dead, but having lost loved ones and friends, some cremated ,some buried, I would prefer a burial. I think a graveside service is a lot nicer and its much better having somewhere to visit. I like going to see my grandma; I "sit on her knee" and just somehow feel closer to her.

If you are unable to think or process a thought - how is the person meant to be aware of 'yourself existence completely'? You need to have the capacity to think or process information to be able to be aware of anything.

Body wouldn't be applicable - a body needs to have a brain to process thoughts and all that.

Soul - no one knows if that exists. We'll all find out when the time comes..... and I bet there is no such thing. Fancy a wager!

Well yeah, I mean the soul could separate from the body on death, so all your bodily feelings and senses stop working but some part of you still exists. Just trying to be philosophical :idc:

Feel The Force

:joker:Well, as I said I am not really bothered, I doubt that there will never be burials permitted though, Some faiths are against cremation.

There are plans to use old burial places after a certain time too, you do only get the land you are buried in for 99 years I think it is,if the grave is badly neglected then after such time it could legitimately be used again.

I don't mind but my preference is burial over cremation, I wouldn't even cremate our Dog when he dies, as for there not being room for burials in the far future, (which I agree with you on in part),really none of us knows when we will have our lives end, I have lost people in my family aged from 14 to 90+,at 19 I am well aware I should have a long life ahead of me but it's not to be taken for granted, anything could happen anytime, in the near future or far off future.

So until there is no choice,I will state my preference for burial.

I've been under General a few times and I say with absolute certainly: I have no recollection of anything apart from "how are you fee.............." "Count from 10 back.... 10 9............................"

then "Hello, Hello, your back in your room" then feeling like a bust ball and gagging for a cuppa.

Great way to 'go' all the same.

Yes, all that has to be done is ask for the ashes and say they are wanted for burial, they can be buried in their own plot or even in graves of other loved ones who have been buried.

You can even ask for the ashes and keep them in your house or scatter them anywhere you want them to be too.

I'd rather have this happen than any of the options.

Or maybe I've been watching too many episodes of Frozen Planet today. But might as well help a potentially starving family of somethings on my way out.
