View Full Version : Will We Be Living On The Moon In Our Lifetime?

I know it may seem like an odd notion, but the rapid development of technology in this present time is alarming and I actually think that (nearer the end) of my lifetime that it will start becoming a common thing to live on the moon because they will have implemented designs for us to be able to survive up there.

Any thoughts?

It's possible but I have a feeling World War III will postpone things a little

No, I doubt it even though I am only 19,it's 42 years since we first landed on the moon, I doubt the World's finances will permit all that would be needed to build or have any humans in any kind of existence even just on the moon.

I cannot see it happening.

I can say with almost 100% certainly, it won't happen in my lifetime. :D

As for the younger generations on here: not in theirs either. I truly believe we are hundreds of years away from getting anywhere near close to that happening.

I'd so love to be able to have been around for it all though - and to see how the world is in a few thousand years from now. (if we've not managed to destroy Earth by then).

What would be the point? There would be unimaginable expense involved in firstly getting there, and then building some kind of settlement that would have to replicate our own atmosphere. Then there's the logistics of getting stuff up there to sustain life, water, oxygen, food, meds, fuel, parts... Even if they found something valuable up there, it'd have to be something small enough to bring back and worth enough to make it viable.

It makes me sad that we wont be able to see how everything develops :(

Over-population on Earth (running out of resources and shizzle... not that the moon has much to offer so maybe Mars)

You would have been standing beside Lord Novo and his merry men going into the battle of hastings with nothing more then a bronze sword and a tin shield

I'm actually not stoned. I usually ask questions like this when I'm not high, when I'm high I'm too lost in deep thought and focused on writing to be able to ask proper questions, I'll usually just ask something pointless and ridiculous.

Oh I see... well to answer your question, you can all go if you like, I personally could not go as I am scared of space travel.

I reckon people will be living on the moon in the next 50 odd years, but only scientists and the like. I think it'll be a long time before any old Joe will be buying an apartment on the moon.
