I have been reading alot of stories online saying that The Sun newspaper were going to out him this week causing him to commit suicide. Today my parents and other relatives were all saying that he apparently had a gay relationship with footballer Aaron Ramsey, I do actually believe the gay story but I'm not so sure about the Aaron Ramsey part.
If any of this is true its very sad :( RIP Gary Speed xx

Such a waste :( It's nothing to kill yourself over. Yes things will be tough but people understand and if they don't they're not worth being in your life

I dont know too much about it (tend to keep clear of the News, too depressing) but if its the case how horrid for him :(
Probably just rumours tbh, I think people just find it so hard to understand why he did it that they try and assign a logical motive and come up with stuff like these

Have know that they were gonna do this since last Monday, I hope they get called to the Levison enquiry and then to court over the **** they were gonna print. NOTW went, Sun has to go, same ****ing journos and freaks trying to ruin peoples lives...
I reckon if you asked the majority of Footie fans they wouldnt care what he did in his personal life......Im sure the main footie members on here like Novo and Locke wouldnt give a damn.....if it's true it's horrible that he thought he had to do this.....

True. I think people feel they kinda know him and want answers. In truth, we're not entitled to them. His family are

IIRC Ramsey has a girlfriend (I only know because I think he's dishy ) and what with Speed's family... I doubt the credentials of the story... but I won't pretend to know for sure  It'd be a shame if it was though.

what ever his reasons it was an extreamly selfish thing to do. Did he not give a ****e what the finding of his body would do to his sons if they had found him. did it not occur to him that it might not have worked and he would have been in bigger rorment! The very least he could have done was leave a letter for his family explaining why he did it.. So what if he had a gay relationship. this is 2011....who the eff cares.....everyone would have got over the shock.. and yes some would have passed the usual judgements....same as people will pass judgements about anyone and everything in the public eye....but if you are going to do suicide....dont leave the mess and heartache for someone else to cope with..bloody selfish....

my spider sense is tingling
aaron ramsey is a "young boy" as wenger would say
wenger gets abuse from fans accusing him of liking young boys bit too much
maybe speeeedo had a thing for young boys like wenger?
if someone found that out about him, it would be definite motive for suicide
i know i know DON'T JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS right?

Unfortunately: suicide and 'the mess left behind for others to cope with' go hand in hand in the vast majority of times. For whatever reason: the man reached a point that he felt it was the only option available to him - and making that choice must be an incredibly difficult one to make: and carry out. Selfish - yes. To end your own life also takes a hell of a lot of courage to actually carry out.
This tabloid fodder now starting to appear is the very thing I made mention of when the news first broke the other week.
TBH, it matters not a jot NOW the reasons for Gary taking that decison as far as the public are concerned, it's a hard enough thing for his immediate family to be coming to terms with - something few 'survivors of suicide' rarely recover from - without having all this carry on going on all around them on top of everything else.
This is no longer public gossip fodder material as far as I'm concerned (I'm speaking of the media and their bloodthirsty need for details now, for it that will only serve to hurt those close to Gary - and that I think is despicable).
There are times when less is more, and personally, I think this is one of these times.

Nothing would surprise me with the Sun.
Then for days it's had tributes splashed all over it's front pages as to him, it's time this rotten publication was consigned to the dustbin of the media for all it's rotten insinuations and reporting of the past.
Why anyone buys it at all is beyond me, it represents all that is really bad about the British press. Although I know people who buy it out of habit but never even once look at it let alone read it after they have.
I'm pretty sure Ramsey has a girlfriend, my friend knows her. But not close enough to know anything more than that. I find that story viable in terms of something to make you commit suicide. Sexually struggles must be tough, I'm not saying gay people should commit suicide or anything like that (I may have worded it wrong) but it's understandable.
At the end of the day suicide is selfish and he could have spoken to people if he did have the above situation
Oh I just read it back. I worded that badly. I mean the situation makes sense with the suicide, it's not as if he's just committed suicide out the blue. And that is what I meant.

I understand what you mean, you didn't word it wrong ;)
There may be concealed facts about this...quite rightly so, as we have no entitlement to know everything...death in any circumstances is personal to loved ones. Hanging, in itself is a more unusual form of suicide...I keep thinking about that politician, Stephen Milligan was it...? who accidently hanged himself...what is it called......auto erotic asphyxiation

100% agree with this - but the very real and very unfortunate thing is though: people do want to know more about those in the public eye - (I mean as in their private lives...if there wasn't the demand, there would be no supply - and tabloid trash and mags etc would go out of business).
We are all very much a part of that - the fact that we are on here discussing this - and discussing whether or not he may or may not have had sexual relations - which is a private matter - shows that we all have a hand in this voyeurism - for that is what we all are contributing to.

It's actually one of the most common. Along with carbon monoxide poisoning, drug/alchol overdoses.

Is it, I didn't realise...in that case, ignore my post...I have an over active imagination.....but I agree with you, it is because we speculate and want everything wrapped up with reasons that encourage the tabloid trash in the first place.

Let's be honest: it's not the type of thing that crops up in everyday conversations.
I was watching a short clip the other morning about suicide - and the figures for men in the UK between the ages of 18 (I think?) and 34 are unbelievably high. It's absolutely tragic that people reach such a desperate state of mind that they feel it is the only solution. Absolutely tragic. For all concerned.

Being Gay In Wales
he may have thought life in not worth living.
"Being Gay In Wales" :conf: Wales is not like South Africa where there's a lot of violence towards LGBT people. Why would that be so bad?
This is just tragic if true though, I suspected that the press would have something to do with it.
Locke.

If it's from the scum it probably isn't true
If this is right I hope it changes the minds of some football fans. I'm not saying anything about anybody on this forum because clearly everybody on here is excepting of peoples sexuality on this site but hopefully this legend of the sport can change some ignorant people's minds

Wales is not much different to England in terms of LGBT violence. There may have been news stories on people committing sucide here because they're gay but that's still a relatively small amount of people. It's nothing like South Africa where people are burnt alive for being gay.

All Reports say Wales hates Gays
Everyone knows that.
Its nothing like Iran or South Africa, of course
but its far worse than central England.
