Yeah being played next to the eating court on large screens.
They need to start advertising on other channels to if they want 5 million to watch this launch.
Theres possibility to turn things around here.

That sounds good.
I agree that if they want this CBB to pick up decent ratings they need to pick up the pace with the advertising, ITV, C4, SKY, etc all need to be featuring the ads every hour at least.
I have a feeling that 2012 will be the year for Big brother, I think it's going to be quite good.

I don't think it's got anything to do with advertising. The last few years it's been lowered into the realm of absolutely trash TV that no one watches. No amount of advertising is going to make people like it.
If they left it 4-6 years after channel 4 ended it then they could have brought in a whole new audience and started a proper new era of BB for a new generation and people would treat it with fresh judgments and like a new show but just dragging the dead horse along the road doesn't make it suddenly attractive. Especially on channel 5.

Yes but after last years massive advertising campaign over 5 million people tuned in to the launch.
Advertising works.

Have to agree with this. Once the horse is flogged: it's flogged.

Yes, but how many continued watching? The ratings went back into a slump, and the fact it was seen as the final ever series will have attracted a lot of former fans who have still got no desire to stay with it.

I find it funny that for CBB they are suggesting that they "choose" the celebrities as opposed to sign any celebrity that will agree a price.

I agree.
They do choose the celebrities, Steve Strange agreed to go in in August but they chose someone else, they approach loads of people months before hand and they get more than they need to agree and choose the best ones. The people nobody has heard of are the ones they replace the drop outs with.

BB has been fairly well advertised in birmingham city centre, saw it advertised on the buses (side and back).
Channel 5 even appeared to get the date right!!!!
Least it's much much more then what channel 4 ever did in BB's last few years.

No amount of advertising will ever redeem BB, there was one on TV tonight and my family collectively went ''oh nooo is this still on?'' (my mum was a Helen fanatical freak back in BB2)

BB is dead and I wish it would die fully physically as it has already done in concept and essence.
And advertising in Westfield  So tacky

How is advertising in Westfields tacky?
Its one of the biggest shopping centres in the country and perfect for advertising thier show.

CH5 can't win either way....
If they don't promote they will get stick and people will claim this is why it will get low viewers...when they do it "should be allowed to die"

The argument is cyclical. Channel 5 can't do right because they're Channel 5.

I quite like the campaigns for this one. It's a bit atmospheric and epic but obviously a bit cheesey. Still wish it was a different eye though

Not really. It's different people with different opinions. Some still enjoy the show and are miffed when it's not advertised properly and others believe it should be given a well earned rest.

It's all impressive but I don't see why they can't afford to pay for a slot on ITV1 during Corrie. Or even on ITV1 at all, for the last CBB they were shown during Daybreak which gets dire ratings but it must have helped in a way because the launch got huge ratings.

I disagree, i think it's much more effective plastering it everywhere on billboards and bus's etc, to get word of mouth going.
Then to have a 20sec slot when a poorly rated show is on. Not to mention most of the viewing audience could have no intrest even if aware its on.
A slot when corrie is on would be a fab idea however.
That billboard is seriously kick-ass, loads of adverts up birmingham and many other city's, towns it would seem. I wouldn't be surprised to see the launch do very well, and with a better lineup, i reckon ratings might hold up better then the previous version.

The one in Westfield was on a massive screen with the clouds and lightning moving in the background.

Just seen the advert with Shaun willimson on C4. Then after that was Go Compare, followed by the full advert with Brian.
